Lindsey Buckingham Powers Through Solo Version of 'Big Love'

Lindsey Buckingham will digitally release a solo acoustic album from his current tour next Tuesday, November 13. Recorded September 1st in Des Moines, Iowa, Lindsey Buckingham: One Man Show is a one-take recording of Buckingham on stage using just his voice and a guitar.

The impetus for the tour was Buckingham wanting to try something different. "I just wanted to go up there and see if a solo show would work," he tells Rolling Stone. "Obviously going up and doing 'Big Love' or 'Never Going Back Again' or some of these other songs that I’ve done before was something I was comfortable doing. Putting a whole show together by myself and having an arc that goes somewhere that holds people's interest was really the challenge.”

In this exclusive stream of the Fleetwood Mac hit "Big Love" from that Iowa show, Buckingham powers through with fevered strumming at the outset and impassioned vocals throughout. The guitarist says the song was an important step in the evolution of his solo show. “If you go back to Tango in the Night, it was the whole band, and it made this transition over a couple of years into being an acoustic piece,” he says. “Because it made the transition as an ensemble piece and became in a way, I think, more quintessential as a song and more powerful as a song by being just myself and a guitar it gave me not only the motivation, but the confidence to keep pursuing that as a viable approach.”
