If this quote is really from Mick then I'd like to think that if he told Sheryl there was "no room for another member" he was being polite and chose to tell her that rather than bluntly tell her either he didn't want her there or that she wasn't Fleetwood Mac material.
I love Sheryl as a solo artist but I don't think I'd want to see her touring with or making an album with Fleetwood Mac. Lord knows I can get my fill of Sheryl at a Stevie show or on TISL! |

I think it would be a total waste of Sheryl Crow's talents to be part of a Fleetwood Mac lineup, especially one that works at the speed of a snail.
She is more marketable as a lone artist and I personally like what she does as a solo performer. Being in the group would sell more records initially, bringing in some new fans, but long standing fans may not all agree and vote with their wallets in the longer term, I think. As was earlier stated, adding her to the mix would bring total disharmony to a group of egos that are fragile to say the least. "Best pals Nicks and Crow" together ganging up musically on poor Lindsey. I can see it now... Mick, as usual, is talking from a different hole than his mouth. Fleetwood Mac do need at least an additional member to add another ingredient to the musical mix, what they don't need is a big star to undermine Buckingham Nicks, they need to focus, at least in the lead singers department, on what they have already. |

MadforMac:
I couldn't have said it better myself. I too like Sheryl as a solo artist, though I'm not crazy about her latest effort or the Central Park live thingie. Perhaps she can open for Fleetwood Mac when they tour? |

Quote:
But if the Mac don't produce the goods live this time around, let's face it, both Stevie and Lindsey's voices don't have the same range, certainly live, as they used to (I know Stevie's vocal chords have been examined in depth on the Ledge recently so I'm not going to add to it here), it could work against them if Sheryl is on top form. That could be a total PR disaster! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to wind anybody up here but it's a distinct possibility that it could happen. |
