6 years on... I still think "Thrown Down" is the best track on the album, followed by "Bleed to Love her"

Oh yeah, I love Bleed To Love Her. I loved it on The Dance CD and glad they did a studio recording of it.
Does anybody know how well the Say You Will Album did? Did it sell a lot. There's a lot of great songs that could have easily been singles on it. I can't wait for the next album.

"Say Goodbye" was far more pure and poignant as a Lindsey solo recording (where it remains one of my very favorites) than it is on SYW, with Stevie's mawkish, cartoonish "duet" vocal tacked on.

Live, its just comes off as another canned, "powerful" S/L moment for the fans/shippers. Slow and boring.

I've come to appreciate this album a lot more over time. I really do love it now, even if it took some getting used to.

My top five tracks:
5. Bleed to Love Her
4. Miranda
3. Red Rover
2. Say Goodbye
1. Everybody Finds Out

I should say, "Bleed to Love Her" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song, period. I'm just so very partial to the version from The Dance, and while I do love this version, the song isn't in the #1 spot for this album because The Dance version gets so much extra love (and listening).

I agree about the solo version being better than the one where they've just tacked Stevie in. The GOS version is also slightly clearer sonically. I don't know if that has to do with adding in more vocals or if it's the super-loud mastering job but there's more space in the un-mastered solo version.

As some of you no doubt know from my 'Lets Talk About...' thread on the Stevie board, for me it just doesn't get any better than Thrown Down on this album. Of course there are some other GREAT songs there too...Come, Say You Will, Destiny Rules, Murrow... but Thrown Down is just fantastic.

It took me a long time to like this album, primarily because of the absence of Christine on all but two tracks. For a while I was just not comfortable with the sound and the almost schizophrenic switch between the Lindsey and Stevie songs, without a 'happy medium'.

Now, I appreciate the work as a whole, although I think there are some utter clangers ('Silver Girl', for example and I can't stand 'Red Rover'). Stand out tracks for me are:-

5. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave
4. Say You Will
3. Peacekeeper
2. Steal Your Heart Away
1. Bleed to Love Her

At first I missed the whoah, whoah, whoah Dance ending, but I really came to love the guitar work at the end on the Say You Will ending. So if the versions could be combined that would be the ultimate BTLH.

I love "Red Rover" too, especially the heavy reverb. It's a great, great song. One of my favourites of Lindsey's off the album.

I love the whole album but if I was allowed to have only one track by Stevie and one by Lindsey, they would be Running Through The Garden and Murrow Turning Over In His Grave.
