Really glad she's decided to do this tour, hope I can make the Vancouver show on Dec 9th, also adore Chrissy Hynde. Here's a "likely" set list I think:
Outside the Rain Dreams Enchanted 24-K Gold Mabel Normand Starshine All The Beautiful Worlds Secret Love How Still My Love If Anyone Falls Stop Draggin My Heart Around Landslide Gypsy Gold Dust Woman Ghosts are Gone (Maybe, 2nd track from IYD) Edge of Seventeen Encore(s): Stand Back Love Is (Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You) Probably 3-4 Songs Too Long (I think she'll actually skip Rhiannon this time out)

I would be surprised if she does not play the ususal hits (Rhiannon Dreams, Edge, GDW, SB Landslide)
I figure she will do 5-7 24K songs and a few from IYD Maybe through us a bone and pull out something rare but I doubt it. Love is will likely end the show unless she brings back HAEWAFY |

Basically, these are the four songs Stevie is REQUIRED to perform, because they were either her biggest solo or FM hits, or songs that put her on the map, and casual fans would be disappointed if she didn't do them...
1. "Rhiannon" 2. "Dreams" 3. "Edge of 17" 4. "Stand Back" That's it! Just FOUR songs. "Gold Dust Woman" is usually in her set, and so is "Landslide" every once in a while but she could easily drop them and no one would care. (Well, they MIGHT care if "Landslide" isn't there, but still...) Personally, I think that, as "non singles", they've both been done to death these past three decades. Given her predilection to only perform 15 or 16 songs, that leaves eleven or twelve songs she can pull from 24K, IYD and deep cuts from the back catalog. My wishlist... 1."24 Karat Gold" (Duh) 2."Belle Fleur" 3."All The Beautiful Worlds" 4."Watch Chain" 5."In Your Dreams" 6."Moonlight" (because she dropped it for all the shows I attended during the Rod tour) 7."You May Be The One" 8."Straight Back" (because of the Mirage re-release and the fact she's never done it live) 9."Think About It" (yeah right...but I think it would sound great w/her current voice) 10."Rooms On Fire" (please, please, PLEASE bring this one back, Stevie!!!) 11."Trouble In Shangri-La" 12."Wild Heart" (I think this should be the final encore after "Edge"...slowed down and acoustic would be soooooooooo beautiful!) And if she got a wild hair to expand the set list to TWENTY songs ( ), that leaves room for four more...in which she could do maybe two more well known songs ("Gypsy"? "Sara"?) and two more obscure songs (I would KILL for "Sable" or title track "Rock A Little") Sigh. I'm already getting nervous and scared. |

I liked her vocal on Soldiers Angel and the Production but I don't care for the words. I hope she skips that one for the audience sake.

I too hope she skips that god damn awful song.
"I am a soldiers architect In the eyes of the other architects In the eyes of the soldiers future home, I am the wall builder, Through the wall and the plaster, I concrete up the home, The battle overwhelms my bones, I play the clarinet and trombone..." "I am a soliders taxi driver, In the eyes of the taxi drivers, I drive them to their destination, To their streets and their gardens... In the soul of a taxi driver, I am an angel of their garden, I drive with passion through their gardens, But always smell the roses..." |

I can appreciate why she wrote it and why it's an important song to her, but it's my least favorite song on the album, as well. I don't mind the music. It reminds of "The Chain" and Jefferson Starship's "Stranger" (someone need to do a mashup!). The vocal is quite rough, though.

I wonder if Stevie would be smart to do all her solo hit singles, and I mean all of them, along with the 24 Karat Gold songs. That might make a more balanced show.
In no particular order: Stop Dragging My Heart Leather and Lace Edge of 17 Stand Back If Anyone Falls Talk to Me I Can't Wait Rooms on Fire 3 FM hits 5 24 Karat Gold songs 2 In Your Dreams songs That would be 18 songs, and a decent balance of new and old material. I mean, I Can't Wait would be a fantastic show opener and she's only done that song for one tour. Leather and Lace, Talk to Me, Rooms on Fire, and If Anyone Falls haven't been done to death like Dreams, etc and would make it more tolerable for the new songs. I would be concerned if she did 6-7 24 Karat songs, along with 2 songs from In Your Dreams, PLUS lesser known songs like Wild Heart and Bella Donna. That would mean fewer known songs for the casual Stevie fan (shockingly, they do exist!), plus she would likely throw in her overexposed songs, like Dreams, GDW, Rhiannon, Stand Back, and Edge. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wild Heart and Bella Donna and would flip if she sang those live. But could the more casual fan be underwhelmed if she sang 30 year old non-radio tracks along with a bunch of songs from a year old record that never even charted? I think Stevie would be taking a really huge risk. |
