Default How many tickets will Stevie sell?

I'm very surprised, as I know many of you are too, that Stevie is playing large arenas. The IYD tour played to capacities from 1,500 to about 5,000 so how many tickets will she sell for let's say MSG?

Also, The Pretenders are hardly going to attract many people so it's 90% down to Stevie to sell the tickets.

She's clearly hoping that all the Mac concert goers will want to see her live too. I sure do hope so otherwise it'll be very embarrassing to find a few thousand people scattered around an arena.

We shall see.

I feel like that's why the VIP prices are so high! They know the diehards will pay it so who cares if they can't fill up an arena? They will make bank on the first few rows!

Since this tour is short and on such short notice, I feel like it would have been better for her to cater to us chiffonheads and actually do a more intimate show in smaller venues with deeper cuts and not the usual, but alas, another wasted opportunity in Stevie land.

the vip price come from the artist they can make what the Scalpers get for the tickets they provided to them but this way they do not need to give them a cut

thank everyone who ever bought a ticket for a scalper for this

I also thought it was interesting that Stevie's team has chosen to play large arenas. For years now, she's been playing smaller capacity outdoor amphitheaters (known as "The Sheds" in concert marketing terms). These outdoor theaters include covered reserved seats and a "general admission" lawn for ground seating.

When I attended the "In Your Dreams" Tour at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, Texas in 2011, THE LAWN portion of the amphitheater was CLOSED, so no tickets were sold there. I would say there were about 5,500 people in the reserved seating that night.

For this 2016 solo tour, Stevie's camp has booked The Toyota Center in Houston with a seating capacity of about 18,000. Does that mean they are banking on an additional 10,000 who want to see this show? Will billing "The Pretenders" as an opening act bring a sizeable draw. I'm not sure. Whatever the case, if only 7,000 people show up, that's fine with me, less crowds to fight for drinks and restroom. I would have preferred that Stevie do an intimate tour of indoor theaters. Those large arenas are built to play basketball in, not to play great music in.

I think these guys get a bad rap.

The artists grew greedy and charge
more than what the scalpers used to
charge.

In most cases* I'd rather hand a C-note
to a scalper and know where my seat
was going to be. Than to hand it over
to Live Nation and their artists to divvy
up. And then sit and wonder which row
they'll decide to send me.

* Note I said most cases. Not for this tour.
Because I'm seeing many dates being cancelled.

Stevie has a very big and devoted fan base. Of course this show wont sell out arenas but it will be successful. Remember there are many casual fans that make up the majority of concert goers. There will be many who are not huge fans of Stevie or the Pretenders that will say.....that would be a good concert for date night

You have no idea about Chrissie and her own brand of freaks...they will be out in droves and leave at intermission unless there's some sort of collaboration during Stevie's set.

Haha! Yeah, I always remember the two very lovely people who arrived at the VERY end of Stevie's set. We exchanged pleasantries, and the woman remarked that the traffic was "terrible." With a sad expression, I told her that Stevie had just finished. She looked at me quizzically, and I realized that she had ONLY come to see Rod Stewart.
I live in VB, so I'll have to go to Columbia since it's the only Saturday show within driving distance.

At the Montreal show I think I was the only Stevie fan there. They were respectful when she sang etc but once Rod came out you could tell they were there for him. The crowd went wild and stood up danced all night etc.

I was at the Montreal show too, and am a huge fan (I've seen Stevie 27 times on stage! And 28, come Dec. in Seattle for the 24 Karat Gold tour!).

I agree it was more of a Rod show and extravaganza, despite the double billing.
