Everybody Finds Out Appreciation Thread
Sorry if this has been done before...
I'm just curious to get people's opinions on this song, what it's about, what you think etc. I'll get the ball rolling by saying I absolutely LOVE Lindsey's backing vocals on this song. Also that I love the synthesizer bit at the end. Any thoughts? |

It's about an affair. I think it's some of Stevie's best witting and think it would have totally kicked ass live! It and Thrown Down our my two favourite songs on SYW.

I love it! It's a very unique Stevie song. Very un-Fleetwood Mac, but it added alot to the Say You Will album. (When was the last time they used strings?!) As usual, I think they missed the marketing boat...if this song was remixed by some club DJ, this could have been a big dance staple. I find it unusual that big club DJs don't do more with Stevie songs, save for the recent Dreams remix.

It seems to be about an affair but that's what confuses me, it is a fairly clear-cut narrative about an affair, but Stevie doesn't usually 'make up stories', you know? The stories in her songs are usually more ambiguous, if you get my drift.
Unless there was some specific affair that she wrote it about that I'm completely missing.... |

At first, the overly EQ'ed voice of Stevie's during the first verse annoyed me, but now I think the effect is kinda cool.

I'm not sure it's about a specific affair, even if I thought so at first. Now it seems me more about a way to live life in general. I love the lyrics, the music, Stevie's passion and Lindsey's production, even if it's the kind of track I'd like to hear through different approachs, to see how it can changes.

I love the idea of those being violins though, still. |

As others have said: It's a fantastic song. It's musically adventurous (at least for Fleetwood Mac). It would have been a knock out in concert.
Of course, "Say You Will" and "Peacekeeper" were much better live choices... I really ought to apply to be their tour manager... |

Well, what I wondered when I was watching the DR doc, was how they were going to handle the part where Stevie has to go from "She's done it a thousand times" to "When love starts out in the darkness" live. It didn't really sound right when she did it in rehearsals.
