Default Danny & Tramp

Is Danny Kirwan ok or is he still on the streets in England? Does anyone know the latest.

Years ago, I used to have dreams about him and hoped that he would be ok. Sounds a bit crazy but ...

Anybody have the Tramp album? Is it worth the $25.00 buy on ebay? Sharon

I wouldn't say Danny was ok, but he's a lot better off than he was, and he doesn't live on the streets any more. He's being looked after You're not the only one whose dreams are invaded by Mac members and I include myself in that...

There are two Tramp albums.. "Tramp" and "Put a Record On". IMO, the first one is better, but both are good. Both are available on CD, if you don't mind looking around and maybe waiting for a cheaper one to pop up on eBay, but $25 is more or less the usual figure

Default Hey Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know the latest on Danny. Whew! I do feel better knowing he's not on the streets anymore!

Not only is that a sad situation but these days a very scary and too unsafe a situation. Danny is cool no matter what he thinks of himself and he deserves better.

I think I will wait around a little bit and see if I can find a good deal somewhere. I'm going to want both of these cd's. thanks, Sharon

Exactly, I couldn't agree more

And good luck with the CDs. Another album that Danny is on that you might want to check out (if you haven't already) is Chris Youlden's "Nowhere Road". It's a good album anyway, but Danny plays on a few tracks and it's fun to spot which ones he's on

Me too! I must say though, I LOVE the first Tramp album so much better! Watch out for the PARO CD though since it doesn't have You Gotta Move on it (even though the notes say it's there), it is on the "British Blues Giants" "2 LP's on 1 CD" set though which would probably be the cheapest way to get these albums (does sound like they used vinyl to put them on CD though but it's better than nothing I guess ).

Anyone know if the Youlden NR album has ever found a CD release? It'd be great to get that one on disc also.

John

Yes, I have it on CD, but it looks supiciously like a "private" release, with no liner notes to speak of. But the sound is fine. I think it's German - other than that, I think it's vinyl only. Ebay should have it though

Hmm, so does it sound like "vinyl to CD"?

Default Nowhere Road

I looked this cd up on Amazon.com and the customer reviews confirm your suspicions. It is a bootleg cd. So, I went to ebay and found the LP. It's got one day on it and 2 bidders already. I'll wait til the last minute and try to grab it. Thanks! Anything else about Danny I should know? I do already have all of Danny's albums on LP plus Ram Jam City on CD. Sharon

Well, if you get Tramp's "Put A Record On" & like it then you might like the Jo Ann Kelly comp CD called "Tramp 1974" which are more recordings from that era but only the "live" bunch at the end of that disc have Danny on them (i.e. the audio portion of a BBC/TV thing they did back then).

Default Nowhere Road LP

Hey, I managed to get my hands on Chris Y. Nowhere Road LP. I'm taking my best guess that Danny is on the title track and on "in the Wood". Am I right? Oh I hope I'm right! There's no liner notes saying which tracks he's on. Sharon

Yeah the vinyl copy I have doesn't say which songs he's on but I'm with you "In The Wood" is the one that sounds most like Danny, at least his mellower electric tone, though his more rockin' agressive tone I think could be the lead guitar on "Mama Don't You Talk So Loud"? Oh that's right his wah wah stylings could be on the opener too. Would be good to find these things out for definate some day!

John
