Cool Song You'd Like Lindsey To Cover...

I'm driving home from work tonight and Audioslave- Like A Stone comes on. If you don't know the song by name, chances are you know the chorus..."In your house I long to be Room by room patiently I'll wait for you there Like a stone I'll wait for you there
Alone." I was thinking of how much i'd like to see what Lindsey could do to the song and how much it does remind me of Lindsey. It's an amazing song...the guitar solo is *ACE* and I can almost hear Lindsey playing it (yes, I can even picture the squinty face he'd be making when he's hardcore into a song). To me, no one can do a Lindsey Buckingham song justice other than Lindsey Buckingham. However, I think there are many songs that Lindsey would be great covering. What song would you like for Lindsey to cover or what song do you hear a lot of Lindsey in??

Something by Radiohead...like "Where I End And You Begin" off their new album. Pretty haunting and creepy track I think would suit Lindsey.

Lindsey has a good vocal range and a
nice vibrato so I would like to hear Lindsey
sing the Elvis tune...LOVE ME TENDER!

Hmmm, that's a good question. I'd like to hear him do Dylan's To Make You Feel My Love. It's a really sweet, quiet song he could sing in that breathy voice with his eyes closed.... *sigh*

HMMM, Audioslave is a good one for sure, but so will be:

Crazy mary (sweet relief coveralbum1) by pearl jam,
Hungerstrike by Temple of the dog (duet with Mark Lanegan, singer of the Screaming Trees/Queens of the stone age)
Vicious by Lou Reed,
My descend into madness by Eels
Creep by Radiohead
Low by Cracker
Round eye blues by Marah
Mockingbird by Carly Simon and James Taylor (duet with Stevie)

And a acoustic solo-interpretation recorded in one weekend of all 20 songs of Camper van Beethoven's "tusk'.
(serious! this is not meant as a joke!)

Creep is a good one.

I'd love to hear Lindsey interpret it.

I'd love to hear Lindsey collaborate with Jim O'Rourke. They have a lot in common acoustically and are both excellent arrangers and composers. Lindsey's style on SYW is very much in line with O'Rourke's music, check out "Halfway to a Threeway." Awesome..

I constantly notice so many musical similarities between LB and Prince, in terms of composition, extreme vocal ranges, and guitar playing. I'd love to see LB cover a Prince song....something like "3 Chains O' Gold" (especially the end part of the song....it's VERY "Live Lindsey").

Smile Easy...

"Confortably Numb" by Pink Floyd...I wonder how he could/would interpret this classic?

The solo is right up there in terms of Lindsey's style, I'm sure he'd make a fantastic 5 mins+ job of it! (Only problem is that some of the most famous parts of that solo require the use of a trem arm, which the Model One obviously doesn't have, so he'd either have to use a different guitar or dramatically change the solo.)

As for the vocals, it would be absolutely awesome to have Stevie sing the part of "The Doctor" (the verses) and Lindsey sing the part of "Pink" (the chorus).

It probably would sound like:

I'm So Afraid
Tango In The Night
Murrow

It almost does, as it is.

Right. A very '70s-type arena rock solo. Wave those lighters!

I think Lindsey could do great Beach Boys covers, since he was very influenced by Brian Wilson. Especially something from their Love You album, which has as similar a naivete and will to experiment as his work on Tusk. Or how about working with Bob Welch on "Surf's Up", as Bob suggested?

Or then something by the great songwriters of the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin etc. "This Nearly Was Mine" was a step into that direction.
