In america a few years ago there was a massive recall of dog food it was all being made in china and they were adding fillers that caused immediate kidney failure , I did some research and found a local company that made human grade food for dogs and cat

I also at the time had a cat that was losing weight and nothing was showing up on every test , i thought i should then check his food , which was Science Diet a very highly recommended by veterinarian food , they changed their formula and well the second ingredient was cellulose (ground wood ) i changed his food and he lived to be 22 years old .

You want to believe you are feeding them something good , but here anything especially treats from the supermarket those brands are basically toxic and poison .
Thanks, I appreciate your solidarity.
The problem with these foods is that veterinarians recommend them for money and they don't know what actually is in the food.
The best would be feeding them with homemade food but it's very troublesome, time consuming and the necessary nutritional supplements are expensive and/or difficult to find. I had made some research for my cat but now it's too late.
However among those brands named by the Report were Royal Canin and Personal Trainer.

16 years old.
You're very admirable for cooking so much for your animals. When I discovered her illness I bought a manual for cats home-made feeding and I'll try making something for her but I still can't find some vitamins. Unfortunately she always had a very picky appetite and doesn't like many fishes and meats, but at least she likes chicken and can stand turkey.

I took in a stray kitten that I found in my backyard 3 days ago. Can't post the photo of it because I'm having issues uploading it. I'm taking it to the vet on Tuesday to be looked over and make sure it is heathly .

I agree feeding our pets good food is the best thing we can do for them (and the best thing we can do us humans too!). I had a rescue Lurcher that I tried on a raw meat and veg diet as this is supposed to be closest to their natural wild diet, but it was hard going as I'm vegetarian. She was an amazing running dog, the fastest on the beach, and I actually discovered that she had better energy levels on the dried food - but I found a good quality, UK made non-toxic food.

After trying a few foods with my cat, he's now on James Wellbeloved (light as he overeats) and this seems to be the best by far for his coat and eyes. I hope it's good enough for his health in the long term, he catches wild things too. It's great if you can give your pets some fresh foods. I get my pet food delivered in bulk from Zooplus to make it affordable , they deliver all over Europe.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat Sisternightroad, as Olive said you've done a great job of caring for her and 16 is a good age. We get so attached to them its very hard when they get ill.

Thanks, it's like you said, I'm very attached to her.
I tried Zooplus but the costs of the delivery and the management ended up surpassing the retrenchment, so I buy from a nearby shop. I use a brand named Prolife that uses natural supplements and it's fine also because it's actually a bit cheaper than all the other most famous brands, I save circa 8 Euros for the 1,5 kg dry food and 65 cents at portion for the wet food.
