Default A question regarding FM in other countries

Does anyone know how successful Fleetwood Mac are in Denmark? I can't find a lot of chart info for that country. According to Setlist.fm they've played a handful of shows there since the 1960s, the last one in 2013. Did their last two concerts sell out? Is there music played on the radio?

Why haven't they played any shows in Japan and Italy since the 1990s? They toured Japan three times between 1977 and 1990. It seems strange that they just stopped.

Why have they never toured South America? I'm not sure how well their albums charted there. Surely they're at a point now where they can play a few successful shows there.

I have often wondered why the Mac NEVER toured south America during their peak popularity. There was a petition on Facebook during the On With The Show tour to get them to perform in Argentina.

Everywhere hit #1 in Denmark (I believe) and #4 in Belgium (neighbor).

I don't think its strange the Mac has not hit Japan since 1990. The Mirage tour was only 18 US shows and the Dance was only 40 shows in the United States.
The Mac mainly tours the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe.

In Mick's first book he wrote that the Mac almost played the Soviet Union. They tried to make it happen but it fizzled out.

The Mirage tour was 30 or 32 shows, wasn't it?

Europe is a very loose term in FM book. they basically stay up north. they don't tour south, east or middle Europe. they usually play just Paris in France, and just northern parts of Germany. they don't go to Spain, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Poland, etc, etc - where other bands touring Europe generally go. i once asked LB about them touring such limited number of countries on European continent, he looked at me, and said - but we went to Sweden last time. huh? compare Springsteen's European tour to FM's - very, very different.

1. The Danes are known to have disdain for Fleetwood Mac.

2. No.

3. Never.

I verified this with Alec.

It seems as though Everywhere is one of their biggest hits in a lot of European countries. I wonder if any of their other songs hit #1 in Denmark. Surely Little Lies would have charted over there.

It's a shame that they haven't taken any of the last four tours to Japan, they obviously have a fan base out there. It would be great if they included Japan, South America and more European countries on their next tour (if there is one).

Interesting, thanks for the info.

Spain, Italy and Poland are surprising. I bet they could sell out a show or two in each of those countries.

I believe it was only 18 shows!

My memory could be playing tricks on me, but I think that's it.

Wikipedia says 29 U.S. cities, so I assume that means 29 shows, unless they played multiple shows in LA or something. I also remember their Oakland show had to be rescheduled. I don't know if that means any of the shows were cancelled.

I think including the US Festival, Mirage was 32.
The LA Forum was played twice and the Coliseum was twice.
Not sure about a reschedule.

I think some of us get the 18 shows (Mirage tour) because some of the members mostly Mick said so in his book or something. I never bothered to count them
There is a part in Mick's first book about touring for the 5 weeks Mirage was #1. When the tour was over Mirage fell like a rock from the charts. Mick said he wanted to stay out there and tour but Stevie and Christine had their own records scheduled so he was thankful for the 18 shows or something.
Bottom line, Mirage was an extremely short tour. I used to have the Mirage tour shirt and had the cities on back. I don't think there were more than 20 because they went down the middle of the shirt in fairly large lettering.

They seem to be quite popular in Scandinavian countries so I'd imagine they'd have a similar level of popularity in Denmark to the likes of Norway and Sweden.
Denmark introduced a new chart system in 2001 so its difficult to find chart/sales records prior to this.
