Default Why the Monkees & Paul Simon May Be a Good Push

Hopefully with established artists such as the Monkees (number 14 last week) and Paul Simon (maybe number 1 this week) charting high on the Billboard top 200 album charts will light some fire under FM's ass's to get the new album out soon.

Yep. Paul Simon was #1 in sales.

I'm not expecting anything other than the "Mirage" reissue from FM this year, unless a "Tango" reissue by Christmas. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised though.

I am not expecting anything new..if you read the small article with the demo version of Gypsy on the Rolling Stone site even they seem to be determining that there will be no new Fleetwood Mac album.

'There's been talk of a new studio album, but there's no clear sign they've actually begun work on it' RS 9th July

Well that Rolling Stone article is a load of sh!t then as we know they have started on it... unless 4 of the 5 have been lying to us about all these songs they've worked on over the past 4 years.

right. and unless they registered bunch of non-existing songs and titles under their name with ASCAP or whoever they work with.

that said, i completely expect 2016 to be a complete bust for the fans who care about FM releasing new music and not just continuing their oldies nostalgia band kick they've been on.

if they do release all those new songs finally, it will be probably in 2017 before their fall tour start.

which means they are wasting precious time this year with their stupid band politics (read: working on Stevie), instead of doing something better with the short time they have left. if Stevie wants a year off, she can take it. others should know that upfront and do something different instead. they shouldn't be sitting around waiting on pins and needles till Stevie finally gives them something to work on and add to all those existing songs. (can you hear me Lindsey? release something solo, do some short events like Mick is doing, work with all those bands that are fans and want to work with you [Neko Case comes to mind!], to add to your EOTS activities, etc etc

in 2012 Lindsey had a long solo tour, released 3 completely new songs, as well as a live album, all while touring. and wrote and recorded bunch of new FM songs for that album we are still waiting for. i'm spoiled - that's the kind of activity i'm used from LB. everything since the release of the EP, even with touring, has been a creative lull as far as releases go. and we know LB has been working on new music while on the 2014/15 tour. i'm inpatient. i want to hear all this.

What's the source for Lindsey working on new material? I had not heard that one.
