Default Favourite Rock Ballads

I've got a little free time so I decided to put together a list of some of my favourite rock ballads.

1. Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones

2. Bell Bottom Blues - Derek and the Dominos

3. Song for Emma - Joe Walsh

4. Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Neil Young

5. These Are The Best Days of Our Lives - Queen

6. Time Will Let You Know - Robin Zander
(For those who aren't familiar: It was originally recorded for his 1993 solo debut album and he later performed with Cheap Trick for their 2001 live album Silver celebrating the band's 25th anniversary, and it included vocals from Robin's daughter, Holland).

7. Honesty - Billy Joel

8. Love Hurts - Nazareth

9. All By Myself - Eric Carmen

10. One - U2
(There is no number limit and you can include whoever you want in your list).

This is a hard one and will have to think more before I post. One of my all time favorite ballads is Keep on Loving you by REO Speedwagon. Before you throw cheese at me, let me explain.
It reminds me of my youth and the couples skate at the local roller rink. Plus its written from the heart and has powerful lyrics. It reminds me of those puppy love years when I was 11 and 12. Some very powerful lyrics " Although I know all about other men" It was us way before then. "When I said that I loved you.. I meant that I'd love you forever" "I don't want to sleep, I just want to keep loving you. " "And I meant every word that I said...when I said I love , I meant I'd love you forever" But the song is a masterpiece because of how it was put together. REO's guitarist refused to do a ballad and fought with the band. He only wanted to play rock and roll. When Kevin played it on the piano and sung in the studio, the guitarist tried to ruin the song with heavy guitar chords. Even though it was a purpose destruction of the song, the band was floored how it sounded and kept variations of the heavy guitar in the song.
It starts out as a soft ballad but is a full arena rock song with some amazing and heavy guitar.

This is just too funny.... I was hesitant to include THIS song on my list out of fear of getting severely mocked. I'm so glad to find out that other people like it!!!! So, don't worry, there will be NO cheese throwing from me.

Even possibly bad music can be meaningful under the right circumstances, but I would never dis REO because they have loads of skill and that huge voice you know immediately.

I'll have to think, about what constitutes a proper rock ballad... Bob Seger would probably be half my list! Would I Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis be a rock ballad? Anything slow-danceable in a school gym? Color My World by Chicago hands down!

I completely agree with you about Bob Seger. We've Got Tonight is a masterpiece! I've never been a fan of Chicago, I'm more of a casual listener of them.

Also, I think I have to give mention to Jefferson Starship Count on Me and Miracles are absolutely sublime.
