A Facemelting Blog of Staggering Riffage.: Fleetwood Mac--Oh, Well ...
By Jake Lancaster
Fleetwood Mac--Oh, Well-1969. I thought three chicks ruined this band until I found out Lindsey Buckingham was/is a dude-or so he alleges. Posted by Jake Lancaster at 12:06 PM. 0 comments: Post a Comment. Older Post Home ...

Default Dear Viv,

Thanks for deleting my posts, and I'm not a troll. I just know more than you about Peter Green's era with Fleetwood Mac (as does a handful of other posters). I was only correcting what you posted. I know, "don't shoot the messenger", yet I was only trying to correct the errors of what you had quoted. Seriously, just stick with the Buckingham era, you're not a true fan of the early band anyway.

I'm counting the minutes as when you can get this post deleted. CHEERS!

Peter Green: Black Magic Woman

[purchase]

…this one. Black Magic Woman is the song that was a hit for Santana back when. But it was written by Peter Green, for the blues band he was in at the time. Perhaps you’ve heard of Fleetwood Mac? Green was one of the founders of the band, but he didn’t stay long, and he was long gone by the time they reached the height of their popularity. Green had some serious problems that kept him out of the music business for many years. But by 2003, Green had a band, and he revisited some of his old material. I like his vocal on this remake better than the Fleetwood Mac original. The song as done here is also twice as long as the original version. Although this is a studio recording, it has the feel of a live jam, and a fine one.

Default Not written by VivFox-I found this snippet on the web

there is another very cool version of " Rings"that Leo Kottke
did a few years ago with Mike Gordon of Phish and the album "Sixty Six Steps". The same album has a killer version of "Oh Well" the old Fleetwood Mac written by Peter Green. I do mean killer. I am too lazy to find a link. Knock yourself out.

Hmmmm....
What makes you think it's from Göteborg? The setlist corresponds to the setlist already known from the Cue Club, and Dinky Dawson doesn't mention a show on april 2, 1970.

???????

Love the picture though. Did you take it, were you there, and is that a proof of the show in Göteborg on that particular date?
Keep us informed.

Not zoork, but there's a lot of doubt that the show in question is actually from the early 11/69 date that the Cue Club show is listed under. The setlist and playing are much more like a show from late winter or early spring 1970 than mid-autumn 1969. In particular, that arrangement of "Rattlesnake Shake / Underway" was not used until early 1970, based on other live recordings. On other recordings from 11-12/69, it had not yet stretched out to the length it is on this show, and it did not yet include "Underway". Also, the date seems too early for a live "Green Manalishi." As to the exact date and venue that it's more likely to be from, I don't know.

I believe the question about the date of this show has been discussed before on the Ledge, and it's been discussed extensively on the Wolfgang's Vault webpage for this show (which is where the recording came from): http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/fleetw...r-02-1969.html

Sorry. Yes, I did read the comments on Wolfgangs Vault a while ago. Just forgot I did (age problem ?). I'm rather inclined to believe it is from Göteborg as Zoork mentioned.

No worries, Wouter! My memory is not what it used to be either.

Think I sorted that out at Wolfgangs Vault ... :-)

No, I didn't take that pic, but I've been in contact with the person who shot it.

Listening to Fleetwood Mac before Stevie ruined it... Yeah, I said it · Edit · Delete; Autopost. PS did you know that "Black Magic Woman" was written by them but made popular by Santana? ...
