Mick's web site
I must confess I was sort of down on Mick's web site. I thought it was just some self-adulation endeavour designed to heighten his stature with the Fleetwood Mac-loving world while making a few extra pennies from sales of his life story on video.
Boy, was I wrong! I don't know how many of you have been over there lately, but man, that site is chockfull of useful information. They even have a link to Sararhiannon's site for the Fox clip with "Say You Will" in the background. How many bands would do that for you? I finally climbed down from my high horse and took a swing by this week. And I was very pleased with what I saw. Mick has graciously and generously taken time from his busy schedule to keep us abreast of his lavish vacations and personal and professional endeavours. Oh, to be a rock star with all the well-deserved trimmings! One can only dream. And not only that. Did you know Mick contributes to handpicked charities? And he is kind enough to bring his devoted fans along on his philanthropic efforts. I was truly pleased to be informed of this*. How kind of him to want to help out little orphan drummers, and such. Oh, but I jest, since I really don't know what the causes are. But here's where Mick's site becomes very useful to the fan. I found that if you register by choosing an ID and password, you may become a member of this tight-knit community in a matter of seconds. Hey, even enrolling in your local parish church takes longer than that! So I registered folks, and boy, I had never felt better about doing something on the Net. I had some questions for Mick, for which I eagerly await the answers. I have no doubt that he takes some time out of his workday to read every last word from his devote fans. Here are the questions I've posed (of course I am paraphrasing, but I put a lot more thought into how I worded them on Mick's site; I wanted the questions to be clear and easy to read so he doesn't have to spend more time on them than he has to): --What charities does he contribute to from the sales of pre-ordered CDs? --If I disapprove of the causes he has chosen, do I get a discount on my CD pre-order? --Could Fleetwood Mac check with me before scheduling concerts in New York to make sure I'm available? --What kind of nail polish does Lindsey use to keep his nails strong? I have no doubt that he will answer my questions as soon as he humanly can. *Paraphrased from Jagger/Richards, "Far Away Eyes." |

Sorry, gotta ask...is this whole post sarcastic? Or are you being serious? Of course, the questions pretty much give the answer away, but I just want to make sure.

As for the tenor of my post, well, I'll leave that up to you to decide. CelesteNadia, that quote at the bottom of your post: Did you write that? I like that a lot. |

Thank you.
Thank you for the comment about the snippet on my signature. Yes, that is
taken from a song I wrote although I'm not nearly as good as I used to be.

Very funny!
CV - There's nothing funnier (or nastier) than well written sarcasm . . . and as far as Mick's site, you really nailed it.
Thanks for the laugh . . . Barbara

Well, folks, lest anyone carry with the disappointing conclusion that Mick has ignored my questions, rest easy for I received the answer to one question:
Lots of you asking baout the causes Mick supports on the site. A portion of the proceeds will go to The NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) to help their choice of high quality artist outreach and support programs and/or to Music Cares which offers healthcare benefits for musicians who often have no "employer program". Give us a couple of months and we'll give you more details and info on these and others we'll be supporting. To those of you on the boards with three or more stars, please help spread the word about the Poster and the Causes. More Soon! The Knight! What a nice, helpful fellow The Knight is. |
