I have to be honest, I'm not loving "Just Crazy Love" or "Spare Me A Little." They both seem a bit generic here, but then I get the same vibe from "Remember Me" from Roxy. JCL just doesn't have enough piano, SMAL just isn't the same without the little jam at the end, and I have to say Todd's solos seem a little generic on both. Now, SYLM is pretty good.

I love Spare Me a Little when she sings it with Stevie and Lindsey but here it doesn't do anything for me either. I miss the harmonies and the tempo seems to slow.

But, Steve, you're a total crackwhore, as you know. The SMALs from the 1984 tour are some of my favorite arrangements of it -- with all those glorious backup vocals by George Hawkins. Yes, it's a different approach from that of the Mac a decade before, but what all & hoosits & whatsits & yeowza extra-cheese please on a kaiser roll.

Yeesh.

And you also don't like Remember Me from Roxy '81? You crackwhore, you. That's casual & loose & even a bit funky & everyone's happy & a little drunk & what's not to like???

Sidebar: The Roxy '81 film is the only footage I know of Chris playing a real Rhodes. Can you think of any other?

Well, we all have our hobbies.

I'll grant you that George Hawkins' backing vocals were pretty killer. I like that he sang the "Bare Trees" arrangement, but only much, much better.

It sounded generic and boring to me.

I liked it until I heard these songs, and then it hit me that here are three songs that sounded very different on record in the '70s, but really far too similar live, especially in terms of the all-too-important guitar solo, in the '80s. The personality of the individual songs, when heard together, isn't there.

This looks like a Rhodes, but I don't know if it's a Fender, a copy, or if I need to get my eyes checked again.

It looks a lot like an early Rhodes Stage 73, but it's more than likely the Wurlitzer 200A. See that inset groove along the top? That's the tip-off.

The only reason she's playing the Rhodes on GDW at the Bob Welch show is that it's the keyboardist's setup -- David Edelstein, is it?

Here's one more track. I'll post the last track, "Songbird" either later today or tomorrow.

[QUOTE=macfan 57]In another thread, someone requested a complete show from Christine's solo tour in 1984. I have a complete show. Since I have dial-up, I'll be posting just a few tracks every day until the entire show is posted.

Thanks so much for these MACFAN 57! Offering us these precious recordings took a lot of time out from your day...But hearing some of these tunes again from that time period (the material from her then recent album sounds best) was rewarding!

Incidentally, I think Chris's voice sounded fresher and more youthful during The Dance and on In the Meantime than it did in 1985...Any thoughts anyone?

yes, i think the tapes here are dragging her voice flat a little... however, she sounded great on the dance (better than stevie and lb imo) and In the Meantime sounds amazing vocally

You're welcome. I've been uploading the tracks while I eat breakfast in the morning, so it hasn't taken much time out of my day.

I agree. I think her voice sounded the best ever on In The Meantime. And, live she sounded the best on the Dance tour. I think her voice sounded best on a Fleetwood Mac studio album on Tango In The Night. It's very unusual for a singer to improve with age, but Christine has done just that.
