There is a world of difference between a woman in a group and a groupie, as should be obvious to anyone who knows what the term 'groupie' means. I wonder what incident or series of incidents led to Chris making this remark. She must have had encounters with people who treated her as if she was just "with" the band (as opposed to being IN the band).
She was obviously feeling a lack of respect. Even in those days she wasn't getting the credit she deserved for being a woman musician in a mixed-gender rock band. Even if she had been just "with" the band (which of course wasn't the case), it would have been perfectly respectable since she was married to the bass player. Nothing scandalous about it. LOL I wish Chris would write a book. I'd love to hear her side of the Fleetwood Mac story.
