Well, to my honest opinion, I think Stevie's voice is most powerful on some of the songs she did the backing-vocals for:

My list would be:

Whenever I call you Friend
Sorcerer (Marilyn Martin's version)
Midnight Wind
Smiling Islands

If we speak about her full songs it would be:

Sleeping Angel
Wild Heart
Storms

Tunnel of Love is one of my favorites as well. Vocally, it's the perfect sexy song, the feminine and masculine tones intermingling is awesome.

I agree and what a fantastic "lost" album we would have had with the passion, commitment to craft, tone and range shown had she recorded some tracks at the time of Whenever I Call you Friend and the Walter Egan sessions topping it off with Sisters of the Moon performed right after Midnight Wind. These stellar vocals probably came from the respect and votes of confidence she received from her collaborators.

Vocals of all time, listed in pairs:
Cryin' in the Night and Rhiannon from the early days showcase her untarnished voice in spectacular development.
Silver Springs and Gold Dust Woman are just perfection from start to finish.
Beautiful Child and Storms too show positive growth as opposed to damage from the road.
Edge of Seventeen and the Wild Heart show the rock voice at it's peak.
Gypsy and it's next generation Thrown Down are passionately sung well written songs.

Later Years:
Call on me for Magic and Moonlight, a Vampire's Dream proved that she still has it when she sings with care and passion.

Uhg. Smiling Islands... what a TURD. I went in search of that song becuase people think it is SOOOO good and Stevie's vocals are "amazing", BUT...

IT SUCKS.

Sorry to be so negative. But that song is a Turd-fest. A giant smoldering fly-ridden turd-fest. The production, the lyrics, the whole thing. Erase everything except Stevie's vocals and maybe there is something there.... but I literally had a nightmare once about that song playing on repeat and reaching to change the channel on the radio but I could NOT REACH THE BUTTON!

Please.... no more Smiling Islands!! I hope Global Warming makes them sink under the sea!

The topic was about Stevie's best vocals .... not best song she performed on :-)

Besides, don't forget about the fact that this song was recorded over 30 years ago.

Don't know the word ' Turd', but I agree, the song itself is rather ... well ... can't describe. But Stevie's voice sounds great, crisp and clear on this one.

Already talked about some of her best vocals with Fleetwood Mac. Her solo work:

'Sleeping Angel' is my 2nd favorite Stevie Nicks song, and my favorite of her solo career. And I'd say it is, along with 'Dreams', my favorite Stevie vocal performance. There's a quality to her voice in this song, the vibrato...I don't know what it is, exactly, but it's amazing.

Stevie's voice was strongest in 1981. She killed her first solo tour. The entire Bella Donna album has amazing vocals.

Sable on Blonde is a highlight for me. I love the yell "IN YOUR HANDS EACH NIGHT!"

Edge of 17 is pretty good too.

Sleeping Angel

Pretty much everything recorded from 1980 to 1983 is amazing

Storms, Insider and Sable on Blonde are my top 3, vocals-wise.
Stevie's vocals on this live version of Insider in particular are just unreal.

To me, Sleeping Angel and Whenever I Call You Friend are her 2 strongest vocals overall.

The passion on Wild Heart is amazing, though. And the frailty on Storms is also a very moving performance.
