Default Your Top 5 - Under the Skin Tour

What are your top 5 favorite songs Lindsey has done on the Under the Skin tour so far?

5. Shut Us Down - I think that this is one of the best closers to a concert. The mood is just perfect at this point. I love the stuff he does at the very end with the guitar. It makes for such a good live song.

4. Under the Skin - I think this song works so well live. I love how they basically all use picks for this one. My favorite line is obviously the last one.

3. Second Hand News - I think that the new electric drumming has breathed new life into this song. I love how they are electric drums. To me it makes the song rock even harder than it does with Fleetwood Mac. Honestly, I don't see how the next Fleetwood Mac version is going to impress me.

2. Turn it On - So after the first Lindsey show I went to in October of 06 I became mesmerized by his music. I decided to try out OOTC because I had never heard it before. This track stuck out so much and it soon became my favorite song on the record. My favorite lines come from all three of the choruses. If I had to pick one it would be "You could trust in yourself if you give it a try." When I found out that Lindsey was doing this one I almost shat myself. I love how Brett incorporated all those sounds into his keyboard from the album. There are so many guitar tweaks on the album version and they seemed to cover them all in the live version. I also think that this worked wonders in the encore.

1. Holiday Road - This song is so poppy and cheesy, but god damnit its so catchy. It is a song I didn't expect him to do and it worked great in his set all 4 times I saw him. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the barking bit disppear, the song still remains the same.

Whats your top 5?

I'm not sure I'm going to put these in order (because I haven't decided the order yet).

Under the Skin...I just think this is a beautiful song that absolutely puts me in la-la-Lindsey-land every single time. Gorgeous.

Trouble--I didn't love the acoustic version when I heard it initially (on boots from OOTC, I think?) but I really love it now. It's just gentle and tender and wonderful (God, I'm in a mushy mood today).

Cast Away Dreams--I loved this when I first heard it on his website and love it even more live. Again, there is this feeling of being thrown back into another softer, gentler time...but it's still modern and fresh, if that makes any sense.

Shut Us Down--I love the full-out singing on this (as opposed to the raspy thing he did on the record, even though I think it works for the recorded version). And I ADORE the ending with the guitar. I think it's an understated, yet powerful way to end the concert...and every time I hear it, I have those guitar notes in my head for hours afterwards.

And...sentimental favorite...which, come to think of it, might be number #2 on my list (Under the Skin is number one...see, I can number them in order of preference after all)...Save Me a Place. A couple of years ago, I listened to the boots of OOTC concerts almost every single night. I've always loved the song but when I heard it "live" on the cassettes, I was completely blown away but assumed I'd never get to hear it live. Lo and behold, I was in that audience at Town Hall when he did it for the first time during the Under the Skin tour and I nearly wept, I was so happy. It's just gorgeous.

He sure made us wait a long time, but he done good;-)

It Was You - Nashville (I was so glad he did this live and it has so much more energy on stage. He really got into this one though)

Steal Your Heart Away - Austin (Hell yeah...we screamed it out, he played it)

Save Me A Place - Fort Worth (brought tears to my eyes...)

Turn It On - Fort Worth (the first time I heard it live...WOW)

Shut Us Down - Minneapolis (after this his son leaped into his arms...very touching)

Alternates:

I'm So Afraid (cause the solo was played a foot from our faces in Fort Worth...UNBELIEVABLE)

Holiday Road (I dig the barking and craziness...it's fun as hell)

Castaway Dreams

Cool

5) Shut Us Down (didnt like this one all that much on the record but live he was intense)
4) Show You How (love the vocals)
3) Turn It On (a great song with a good vibe)
2) Under The Skin (best song on the new CD next to Down on Rodeo)
1) I'm So Afraid (the guitar solo is just fantastic) and his soft vocals are great

It's gotten such a great response, so I don't see him taking it out...at least not at the beginning and those are all the Cali dates!

I don't think he will. You can tell its one of the songs in the set that he really has fun on.

I agree with you here 100% about this particular performance. 2nd show of the tour, album's out less than a week.. when he got to the first chorus and mentioned William, the look he had and motion he made was like, "holy ****, they know the words and they're saying my son's name"..and the excitement grew more and more for lee lee, then stella. In my mind, I can still see him from the angle I was watching, doing his leaning, rocking, thumbs up up up, shake it, "bwa-ha-ha my plan worked" motions. I think about it every time I hear the song, even at the other shows I went to. Those IWY performances didn't touch the Nashville version of this tune.
