Default Family Man

Recently, I have been going through a lot with my best friend. Its been really tough. He got expelled from our school and I really do miss him. Its so sad.

Lately ive been putting on Family Man and it just strikes me as such an emotional song and I really am loving it. I have never liked this song as I much as I do now.

How does everybody else like it?

Thumbs up I like it

Yes, it's a simple song lyrically, but it's got a terrific melody and the guitar is awesome.

I love the whole "Mother, Father, Brother" part.

I have to be in the right mood. I think I enjoy it more in the context of the TITN album. It fits in better with that whole sound. The first time I heard it was on the Very Best album and I thought "What the hell is this?!". But once I bought TITN I appreciated it more.

I love it. I have read many people saying they dislike it, and that is puzzling to me. The guitar at the end is the best part.

It resonates on the larger scale of humanity!

I don't know about "emotional." I could take or leave most of the lyrics, and a lot of the mother/father/brother stuff sounds overly precious, but the guitar work at the end of the song more than redeems it for any of its failings.

When I first heard this it just reminded of all his solo work. It just has that "sound" IMO.

Well, it pretty much is his solo work.

The lyrics are actually quite something apart from the chorus, which is just average.

I just love how the 80's-ness fit in well with that guitar playing. Works really well. No where near there best song or the best song on that album but its pretty good.

I'm middle of the road on this one. It's not bad, but not great to me.

I don't want to be a Negative Nancy so I'll just say I'm glad this song is helping you through a rough time.

Tee hee!

Thanks for that, Nancy. I have to say, I was really disappointed at the missed opportunity when you used the phrase "Debbie Downer" instead in another thread.
