Default That's How We Do It In L.A.

The song is alright but WHAT is Lindsey Yelling at the Very beginning of the song

Sounds to me like "Sorry it's me"

Hadn't played that one in a long time.

Does he say "survey says"?

That's what I hear. It makes sense because the first lyrics are
"You'll win prizes if you stay".

Yes, he does. Did he spend his days watching Family Feud?

I think she is officially on, "Shadow of the West". But I hear her in other places. Liner notes in those days were iffy at best. Lots of tracks and lots of drinking and drugs. That's why they can't say for sure Peter is on Brown Eyes.

Me too. Lindsey's landmark rock&rollpastiche, with his own quirky screamy touches that makes it artrock from decades further down the line. Those songs sound so incredible modern indie, it's amazing. It's also amazing that I had such exquisite taste back then.

A favorite of mine, too. This is a perfect example of the joie de vivre that I find missing in Lindsey's latter-day songs.

As a side-note, one of our local radio stations used to use Lindsey's "survey says!" introduction when they did their call-in trivia segment in the mornings.

When I bought this album I expected, "Trouble" and the rest of the album to sound like that. Boy was I shocked. And the more you listen to Law And Order, the better it gets.

Maybe that's my problem with it. Maybe I expected more songs like Trouble. Of course, an entire full of those songs might be too shallow and treacly, but the album didn't come together for me.

It's funny because Lindsey promoted it saying that he didn't have to contrast himself from Christine and Stevie, so it might sound more commercial than his FM stuff. It definitely doesn't and maybe that's a good thing.

It didn't contrast to anything in FMac. It's all on another spectrum. It took me a while to really appreciate it.

Truth be told I think Law and Order is his weakest album, and this song does nothing for me. I don't think he hit his stride until OOTC. I feel his most recent albums far outpace his early solo work. JMHO though, and I respect the L&O / THWDIILA love!

Go Insane is still among my favorite albums. So, for me he hit earlier. But no I don't like Law and Order.

Jbrownsjr has made me wonder if I have not given it enough time. In the beginning I did, because I am just not one of those people who listen once and decide I don't like something. For the first two years I listened incessantly. But I have not done that recently. Maybe I would bring a new mind to it, if I tried again.
