Default Dave Stewart will produce next Mac album?

http://nickslive.blogspot.com/2011/0...backstage.html

Stevie tells Lindsey she will never make another album without Dave Stewart. So if there will be another Fleetwood Mac album, it will be with Dave Stewart... as producer? as co-writer of songs? band member?

I'm sure the Eurythmics fans are celebrating.

And, Dave did say LB doing the song with Stevie on her album was an "experiement"...

I've wondered the same thing though. Stevie has been insisting in every interview she's told Lindsey she won't do another album without Dave, so it appears that would mean a Fleetwood Mac album.

I have to say that I don't quite totally understand her stance regarding her music not being changed. If none of her songs were ever changed think about that. "Rhiannon" and almost everything else would be these long drawn out piano ballads... So, she really didn't like Lindsey adding rock guitar to "Rhiannon"? Stevie-speak. During the interviews for The Dance she was singing his praises about how "beautiful" he made her songs...

Tsk, tsk...

But, I think adding another producer would cut down on the time that they have to spend doing it.

But on the 2003 album, he & his crew screwed up big time.

That sums up her feelings on the matter. As Lindsey said in the interview posted this week in ref to expectations of the Mac sound: "I’ve done pretty well at undermining that over the years."

Let's not undervalue the impact of Glenn Ballard on this album.

Stewart may have some great ideas (per Stevie) and they may get a long well, but Ballard is the guy with the succesful track record in the studio, I've gotta believe he's doing way more behind the scenes than Stewart.

Truthfully, I just can't see this happening beginning to end. Lindsey likes being in the kitchen too much. He likes crafting and carefully controlling the sound of the band. They may start out making the album with Dave Stewart, but I can 100% guarantee you they won't finish the album with Dave in charge .

Right. I mean, I think the concept is they need a moderator and facilitator up in there. The evidence suggests Dave might fit that.

Perhaps. But will she take it all the way to the making of a new Mac record?

You are correct, he did.

I think Dave would really streamline the process of making a Fleetwood Mac record. He would do what is best for the project and not let his or anyone elses ego get in the way.

This. I've read so much of the same kind of nastiness from her directed at something he did, whether to her songs, during a tour, or just any time at all in the late 1970s that it's just more of the same.

Maybe she'll get what she wants. I don't really care as long as I get more Lindsey music.

Well we know they've both mentioned working with an outside producer. I wouldn't be surprised if Dave Stewart has been chosen as The Man. I will have to hear Stevie's album to fully judge what I think about Dave producing FM.

Of course, that might not be dispositive. Dave has produced for a variety of people and even if I didn't like IYD that doesn't mean a colloboration between Dave and Lindsey wouldn't be different and promising, so . . .

Yes, I can believe Stevie said that to Lindsey and that she was serious and that he didn't object (because he wants another group album and will compromise to get it). But obviously David's input will be different working with Lindsey and the band than it was working with Stevie alone.
