Question Lyrics to Hold Me

I was listening to a demo of Hold Me, and I was wondering if these were the original lyrics. It's only Christine on the vocal. In a way, I like this better. She gets a little bluesy on the piano at the end. Sorry if I'm rambling pointlessly...

Can't you understand me
Baby, don't you hand me a line
Although, it doesn't matter
You and me got plenty of time
There's nobody in the future
So baby let me teach you to love
There's no step for you to dance to
So slip your hand inside the glove

C'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man should
C'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man could
Because I wanna love you tonight
C'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
It'll be alright

No, I don't want no damage
But how'm I gonna manage you
You want the percentage
But I'm the fool payin' the dues
Well, I'm just around the corner
If you got a minute to spare
Oh, I’ll be waitin’ for you
If you ever wanna be there

So c'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man should
C'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man could
Because I wanna love you tonight
I’ve got a feelin’ it’s right

So c'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man should
Why don’t you c’mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man could

So c’mon and hold me, hold me, hold
Like a good man should
Why don’t you c’mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man could
Because I wanna love you tonight
I’ve got a feelin’ it’s right

So c’mon and hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me tonight
C’mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
It’ll be alright
'cause I wanna love you tonight
I’ve got a feelin’ it’s right

So c'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man should
Why don’t you c’mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man could
’cause I wanna love you tonight
I’ve got a feelin’ it’s right

So c'mon and hold me, hold me, hold me
Like a good man should

I'm not sure if those are the original lyrics or not. I would like them more minus the "like a good man should/could." That line annoys me. I like it when lyrics are...uh, gender ambiguous (since I can't think of a better way to say that for the moment). The song is that way until that part.

Unisexed, maybe?

I like Hold Me. It always puts me in a good mood. When I was younger, it was my favorite FM song. That was before I owned all the albums, though. I wished it translated better on stage. If so, I bet it could have been on The Dance.

I think there is a Lindsey-only vocal as well. I would check my mp3 list if I was at my house.

Yeah, that's a better word!

I love the song to death, too. It always brings me up. I can say that about a lot of Christine songs. I wish it was on the Dance despite the fact that I don't like it as much live. I would've loved for it to be on that DVD and CD anyway.

I have this. I always thought it might have been the original lyrics. I LOVE it, not necessarily because of the lyrics. I LOVE her piano on this demo. Everytime I listen to it, I can't just listen once. I usually end up playing it over & over. I love the album version of "Hold Me", but I actually may even like this version better, just because of her piano.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I listened to it for over 2 hours and am listening again now. Apparently, Lindsey got a hold of it and obviously made changes. I found the one with his vocal hiding in my files along with Hold Me (Alternate Mix), Hold Me (Alt. Mix 2), Hold Me (Live), and Hold Me (Mirage Outtake). You can never have too much Christine!
