How can you put something to shame if it is a stellar killersong for 30 years?

Wondered the same thing myself, but hey, maybe Sara has something that Lindsey only dreamed about. I only hope that Carrie Underwood doesn't put Lindsey to shame!

"And then Evans made Stevie Nicks irrelevant during her cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'Go Your Own Way.' Providing more force and passion than Nicks' wispy voice could muster, Evans stole the song like Sinead O'Connor stole Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2-U.' Without exaggeration, it was a better performance of the song than former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham's recent run of it in the Washington Pavilion."

How can you make Stevie Nicks irrelevant with a cover of Go Your Own Way. The lead vocal makes irrelevant the backup vocalist? It makes no sense.

The guy probably thought GYOW was a Lindsey/Stevie duet. And of all the criticisms you could make about Stevie's voice, I've never heard it called "wispy" before. Aside from that, Lindsey's fiery guitar playing is an inextricable part of his performance of GYOW and I don't see how you could compare that to Sara Evans. However . . . I am probably not unbiased. I am sure that Wilson Phillips outdid him as well whenever they perform the song.

Oh, but they're comparing it to a recent live version, not the original album version. To be honest, live versions of GYOW never really did anything for me either, then and now. The guitar solo is nice, live, but other than that it's nothing spectacular.

I still need to hear this Sara Evans version...

I like most of Lindsey's songs at least as much live as I do the studio version. There are some, like ISA, that I don't care for at all on the record, but which become exciting in concert. And I think the live version of Not That Funny revised my thinking of the studio recording.

Now, this may be blasphemy, but I will say that Little Big Town's version of The Chain with Lindsey sounded better than Lindsey's OOTC solo version and the SYW version, to me. I missed that third lead voice badly. The back up singers just don't capture it. When I heard Little Big Town, I relived how great the song is all over.

I don't know who Carrie Underwood is, but the name American Idol doesn't immediately scream "Listen!" at me.
