Lindsey likes Camper's Tusk
I read in Blender magazine that Lindsey has been listening to Camper Van Beethoven's Tusk remake. That is great news. I always suspected Lindsey would like the irreverant approach the Camper guys took to the Tusk album.
Lindsey also has been listening to Eminem's The Eminen Show. Over the years, he has been known to like cutting-edge bands, as we know, such as Radiohead, Talking Heads and the B-52s. What other bands have you read that Lindsey has liked at some point? |

That's all I've really read he's liked, apart from the obvious ones like Kingston Trio and The Clash
I was rather surprised to read he was listening to/enjoying CVB's Tusk becuase in all the eralier articles about the tribute it was mentioned that FM had made no comment on it, so I admit I assumed their was some sort of offense, or at least indifference, taken. I'm glad Lindsey's proven so true to his open mindedness and perhaps is able to take his work with less than absolute seriousness. But then he always dug the concept of working in an all male band

That's ANOTHER reason I love him!!
The fact he likes Eminem (I do too) and listens to a VAST ARRAY of music styles!! I've only heard four tracks from CVB's Tusk...and my fave was Think About Me.

I could be accused of being insane, but I wonder if there might be a little bit of Eminem flavor in that spoken part Lindsey does in Illume? The tone of voice and phrasing maybe.

It would be interesting to see LB working with a band like Radiohead or Coldplay

Les, you might be insane indeed, but that's an interesting observation. I'll have to listen to it again. However, didn't he use some of that in Tango? There is one song in particular, though I can't remember which. Or am I thinking about something off Go Insane?

From the man himself (Rolling stone interview):
RS: What's the strangest thing in your CD player these days? LB: The Tusk album redone by Camper Van Beethoven. I thought it was great. They took many, many liberties, which is as it should be, considering we were taking liberties of our own back then. Excellent. I always suspected Lindsey would like this recording. |

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when he heard CVB's Sisters of the Moon . . .
He probably got a big kick out of The Ledge too. Barbara
