I'm genuinely curious... What is it about Isnt it Midnight that made you rank it THAT low?

The sound is too cliché, IMO. It sounds too 80's. It reminds me of many, many 80's songs.
It's not that I don't like it, but it doesn't scream originality to me.

Fantastic
1. Little Lies

Very Good
2. Seven Wonders
3. Tango in the Night
4. Everywhere
5. Caroline

Good
6. Big Love (this would rate much more highly if it weren't for those fake love grunts - they really bring the song down and they go on WAY too long)

Just OK - The following three are pretty much all equal to me
7. Isn't It Midnight (pleasant enough... meh)
8. Mystified (pleasant enough... meh)
9. You and I, Part II (pleasant enough... meh)

Bad - The next two are both about equal to me as well - equally bad
10. Welcome to the Room... Sara (most of the lyrics are too self-referential but some are good)
11. When I See You Again (hate the lyrics but the end with LB is cool)

Ugly
12. Family Man (worst Fleetwood Mac song with this line up - lyrics that make "Whassamatta baby" sound clever and restrained - "I am what I am, am what I am, am what I am, am what I am... a family man" [repeat ad nauseum])

Family Man is trite and not one of his/their best, but the flamenco guitar elevates it above WISYA or WTTR..S.

Everytime I think that a Lindsey's song is "meh", he starts playing and everything is forgotten. He does that to me.

In concerts I wish Lindsey would play Big Love like he does on the album instead of the slooooooooooooow version he does.

I admit I still get embarrassed at that part and will change the song if anyone is in the room with me. Awful. But love the rest of the song.

Oh gosh, yes. He has made one of my favorite FM songs unendurable. I don't understand how he thinks this works in any way at all. Just because people feel obligated to applaud when you hold a note and look at them expectantly doesn't mean they're all bowled over. You can tell how they really feel when they try to sing along or clap along, then are forced to trail off as he slows down more and more... that's disappointment on their faces, not delight. (Note: I'm sure there are a few who like it, but I daresay it's not most.)

That song used to be a showcase for his talents as he effortlessly plucked that beautiful melody. Now it's... not

I understand forgiving some of Lindsey's lesser material for his incredible playing. I firmly believe he is the most talented guitarist alive today, and he has elevated many songs that way. For me, though, "Family Man" isn't just lesser - it's the nadir.

To each her own, though!

I love Big Love live but NGBA is a painful experience, to say the least.

I'll always applaud Lindsey, no matter what he does, but when you want to sing along and you can't, it's a letdown.

I also love Brian May, whose style is quite the opposite.

I'll always love Family Man and its catchy lyrics.
