I bought my pre-order through the mail, but decided to go for the limited edition today! So maybe there's a little of that still residually...

Uh Say You Will, The "SONG OF THE SUMMER" I hope you're right, and since you usually are right about things, maybe this is true. But i would be VERY shocked, if Say You Will becomes the new Dreams.

First of all, 87,000 copies says billboard.com. Second, at least it's now beating that stupid 50 Cent album that only had three new songs on it. It fell to #10. UNfortunately, his OTHER album climbed back up to #2. I really don't get it, what's so great about this guy? He's just a carbon copy of other rappers who've already come and gone (not ALL rappers, but some).

I checked Canoe for Canadian chart details. They only have the Top 10 albums in Canada up, and SYW isn't one of them.

I know - I like some rap, but really do not get into it too much. But, rap music is where it is sales wise, and, it has been there for about eight or more years. Interestingly, my 15 year old caucasian step neice who goes to a strict Catholic school and all of her friends love rap music and have all of the records. So, the appeal of rap is apparently very broad and not in any way limited to its original African American audience. I think this is a good thing in that two formerly separate cultures are coming together. But, for me, it is very hard to get over the violence in some but certainly not all of the lyrics in the rap songs I have heard and the violence in general associated with rap stars (Sean Combs, Tupac, Run D.M.C., etc.). It will be interesting to see how long rap's staying power holds; its commercial viability certainly outlasted the grunge movement, the boy band movement, and the rest of the periodic movements of the 1990's.

I think it therefore more impressive that FM debuted where they did and that the VBOFM has sold over a million copies. Way tofo FM!!!!

Note: I am not slamming rap - I am just making an observation. If you are really into it - great for you and more power to you

Our local arts and entertainment weekly, THE GEORGIA STRAIGHT, lists SYW at #13 for Vancouver album sales, down from #11 last week.

Incidentally, 50 Cent is at #5, where it was last week. Madonna, of course, is #1 here.
