Netflix "throttling" customers
If I were a Netflix customer, I'd be pissed.

I have a friend at work who suspected this as starting last year he noticed significant delays in getting his DVDs. He used to rent about 7-8 per week. I still get my DVDs like clockwork, but I only average about 5 per month.
I'm disappointed in this because I'm a huge Netflix fan and been hoping they survive. They just need to change their advertising, stop saying unlimited DVDs, establish an overall cap on renting per month, and make that clear to customers. It's still a fantastic service. |

I do Blockbuster, and I have had no problems. The main reason I like it is that I get 2 free in-store rentals in addition to my 4 per month, so 6 rentals for $12 per month ain't bad. I originally had the unlimited rentals, but I didn't rent enough for it to be worth it.
Plus, this way if I feel like seeing a certain movie that night, I can go & get one of my freebies at the store, as opposed to having to wait for it to come in the mail every time. |

When I first signed up for netflix I would get 3 movies at a time. I upgraded to 5 a few months ago. Initially I thought it may be taking longer, but it is about the same. For new releases that come out on Tuesdays you have to time your returned movies so that they arrive on Monday. Also, I check where they have been shipped from. Mostly they come from one of two locations in NY where I live, but sometimes I will get one from San Jose. The out of state ones take longer to receive and send back. A way around this is to send the out of state one back in the same envelope as the ones that came from in state.

I'm pissed, even though I wouldn't be classified as a frequent renter. Why? because that's wrong. Like rickypt said, they should have disclaimer or monthly cap.

I still want to love Netflix 'cuz they give their money to Dems, according to last year's True Blue listing. And Blockbuster used to refuse to carry certain movies that they considered "offensive", so I always thought they were run by rightwingers.
Plus Netflix had the idea first, the whole online renting thing, and it's a really great one. |

No, it's for everyone. The catch is that it's one rental per week - if you don't use it that specific week, it's gone. I'm going to stick with the 2 free rentals, I usually like to rent 2 movies at once. |

No surprise here for me. I knew they were doing that about 8 months ago. Very clever.
I have also participated in the class action lawsuit, but as yet, it has not begun...the one free extra DVD. I would never rent from censored galore Blockbuster. Something about a mormon operated company make me not want to give them my money. |

I signed up for Netflix and picked out the movies I wanted ~ put them into by bin and never received a darn thing. I canceled after a month and went to Blockbuster.
