Butter Cookie (Keep Me There)
I was just listening to Butter Cookie from the Rumours expanded disc set and I really do love this song. I mean it pales in comparison to what The Chain is but I think anything Chris does is pretty incredible. On Fleetwoodmac.net it gives some of the lyrics but not the first line or two. Can anyone tell what the lyrics are to this song?
Thank you. |

This is the best I can do. I'm not completely sure about the first line.
(Keep me in???) your heart Throw away the key Don't leave me in the dark I need you here with me Yes, I need you here with me Don't leave me in despair You know I can't live without (it??) No, don't leave me in despair What do you think about that What do you think about that |

Thank you! I love your sig pic by the way, where did you get it? I think I have seen it, I'm assuming it was from ITM.
I wonder why this song was called Butter Cookie. Any ideas? |

Whenever I see the title to this song, I always scream in my head "But-Ter Cookiiiiiiieee!!!" all opera-like. You should try it sometime.

That reminds me: I remember Bob Welch saying in one of his Q & A's that, in the early days, Chris used to be a HUGE fan on Duncan Doughnuts. |

i just listened to the opening on loop about 20 times. does anyone else hear the word "out" in the first line? or am i hallucinating?
if i had to guess, i'd say "butter cookie" is a nickname or term of endearment. or else she's confessing to her great love of sugary baked goods. i know that *i* can't live without it, and if i had to, it would leave me in great despair. |

I agree with Aisling. I believe butter cookie probably was a nickname, maybe for Curry Grant, since she was with him around that time. |

"Keep me out of your heart. Throw away the key." But it sort of contradicts the rest of it. |
