I wouldn't know, because it wasn't done acoustically on Soundstage.

First of all, THANKS to Nancy and Brian
I didn't have time last night to come online so it's been a long agonising wait, haha.

Someone's gotta Change their Mind (typing it out in full because I didn't had a clue what song you were talking about) Ooooooooh gooooooodddd... I'm having shivers down my spine while listening to this! AMAZING. Turning the volume up to the max, sorry neighbours.
Klote wat goed. *snif* What an excellent choice for opening. Like his singing a lot.
(on re-reading, sorry Christy for copying your comments, LOL, I didn't know you said the same things)
Trouble Hm. Have to get used to this, I think. Nice to hear it in a different arrangement, but so far it doesn't sound very original to me.
Big Love I wish the audience wouldn't clap along. I hate that. Oh boy, guess I'll have to practice another seven years before I reach that speed
Go Insane Excellent. As always.
Down On Rodeo hehe, I like that NGBA-like guitarrif. Love the background choir.
Peacekeeper I'm going to say something odd: I miss Mick Fleetwood. I mean I like it better with drums.
speech.. what?!? He talks? He jokes?! NEW jokes? lol!!!
Red Rover Ok, let's open that can of superlatives again. Excellent. etc...
Never Going Back Again Such tender singing.
Say Goodbye .. that is so sweet. Give me some more superlatives.
Murrow. Ooooh like it. I'm repeating myself, sorry! Hm, now that I hear the guitarsolo-part, yes it's very ISA-like but that fits here well anyway. Hm, ends a bit abrupt.
Go Your Own Way This one suffers a bit from the "I've heard it so much I don't actually hear it anymore"-syndrome. It's ok though.

Arrow Hmmm...

Perhaps I need to listen to Murrow some more. I've only had time to listen to it once though. I LOVE his vocal, but that solo didn't sound great to me. When I get back from vacation, I'll have a go at it again, see if I change my mind. Someone's got to, right? BWAH!

No, I think you're right about Murrow. I thought the solo was awful. Half So Afraid and half an uninspired mess. It seemed like he had no plan and wasn't feeling it to wing it. Or something? I don't know. The song didn't come off well live at all, IMO.

SGTCYM, Trouble, DOR, and Go Insane were fab though.

That's a step to far for me, Karlie, but it is definately a version of the song's own mirrorside. The liveversions we know all lean on LB's electric guitarriffs together with Mick and John's incredible energy rythmicly. But the acoustic "counterpart" was an invention that was put in late when he was recording it.(correct me if I'm wrong). Ray Lindsey played it fantastic for years, but the focus was on the Turner-parts.

this version leans on the "counterpart". It sounds full of energy and those guitars seem to have a ball together. Therefore it does not have the rockfeel the otherones had, but a folky sweat-swing, that with his aged vocal sounds a little more upbeat-bittersweet and a little less bitter-but-up. I think the male vocals are a relief for the song. I don't miss Stevie here because she BELONGS to the more rocking liveversions. No problem there, because she can't escape or be sent out of that song anyway; she's in it, even if Giulio Iglesias sang it.

The electric lines he plays are gorgeously grainy. I love it.

PS (Not meant for you, Karlie):

don't smoke alone, David. Pass it......Now!

Stoned or not, I really love the GYOW on this show -- a lot more than about the last twenty years' worth of GYOWs.

Oh sure, it's right on the mark. The counterpart is thicker, richer, etc. It chimes more like a Byrds song here, with that folk quality you brought up

It's also a lot more interesting to my ears to hear the chorus with only male voices.

but I have heard GYOW so many times as of late I am starting to dislike the song...Maybe that has to do with my opinion

Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind: Gives me chills. His voice is so evocative on it.

Trouble: Best version EVER. I adore it. I love how he goes high at the end.

Big Love: Again, one of the best versions I've ever heard. Playing at the speed of light. He is so talented!

Go Insane: I find myself being repetitive. It was one of the best versions I've ever heard. He sounded so intense and passionate - like Gerald noted, in a diffferent way than the Dance. I'm not sure which I like better. The Dance version is what got me interested in Lindsey as a solo artist, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Down On Rodeo:
I so wish this had been on SYW. It's magnificent.

Peacekeeper: I'm afraid I've never been impressed with this live.

Red Rover: The first time I'd ever heard it live (back then) and I was enthralled. A highlight of the show.

Never Going Back Again: Good, but nothing spectacular.

Say Goodbye: Again, touching, but nothing we haven't seen before.

Murrow: Um - don't like it so much. It was weird listening to him trying to overlap his own vocals - "Ed Murrow had a child.... in his grave.... the damn thing went wild.... in his grave..." conjurs up some disturbing images of children thrashing in graves.

Go Your Own Way: Nice version, but not a standout.

All in all an incredible show!

Jesus. You need to get some.

I should have said stripped down. Non-studio produced. Sorry for the grave error. I think most people knew what I meant.

Yeah, I hate to say it but a mess is what it sounded like to me, too. Of course when I get to see a better copy of the show I can give a fair judgement.

I'm not sure why you would assume I was speaking to you. It's not all about you, you know.
