Wow, it's rare to see OSOTM that high. I like it a lot too. In fact, I have your same top 4, but just not in that order.

I'm a fan of OSTOTM too. When it came out I thought it was an improvement over RAL. I *loved* "Rooms On Fire" and most of the songs on the album were imo pretty decent.

It's becoming so hard to rank Stevies records. Some of us have been fans for a very long time. Longer than we care to admit. So, for instance, I've been listening to "Bella Donna" for over 33 years now, and so on, and so forth with all her subsequent releases. Enviably some records are going to have some sentimental bleed through. Having said that, even though I've only been listening to "24 Karat Gold" for barely a month, I believe it ranks among her very best releases.

It's very hard for me to rank an absolute favorite. I had to rank her records in 3 tiers

1st tier - Bella Donna - 24 Karat Gold - In Your Dreams
2nd tier - Rock A Little - The Wild Heart - Trouble In Shangri-la
3rd tier - The Other Side of the Mirror - Street Angel

I think it's a good way to look at it. And you're right, sentimentality definitely clouds judgement, which is why Bella Donna and The Wild Heart are so far ahead of her other great releases....people have lived with them longer and love them.

TISL, IYD, and 24KG are forming something of a second level in the voting, which I think does show that all three of her recent releases were very strong records. I think AllMusic Guide is pretty spot on in their critics ratings:

Bella Dona ****1/2
The Wild Heart ****
Rock A Little ***1/2
The Other Side Of The Mirror ***
Street Angel **
Trouble In Shangri-La ***1/2
In Your Dreams ***1/2
24 Karat Gold ****1/2

I would have given TISL and IYD both four stars though. But I agree with their general take on it - with the exception of Street Angel, all Nicks' solo albums have been good or great records.
