Default Design a Shawl for Stevie with only $2000 Contest!

Calling all fashion designers! This is your chance to design a shawl for Stevie Nicks and receive $2,000. Submit your work now at https://www.talenthouse.com/i/design...r-stevie-nicks. Deadline is September 22. ‪#‎Stevieshawl‬

THE BRIEF
Legendary American singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks invites fashion designers and stylists across the world to design a show-stopping shawl inspired by her mystical visual style and symbolic lyrics.

So instead of an album cover the contest ends up being a "Design A Shawl For Stevie Nicks" contest...Still pretty cool...

For some reason I think this is actually WAY cooler. Stevie is a style icon, and fans are getting a chance to design something she'll wear. The creative possibilities are far more interesting to me than just a simple album cover. Best of all, there is a cash prize. I honestly cringed at the thought of a fan-designed album cover, but I think this is just such a cool idea. I wish I had the talent to come up with something. All the folks who make their own Stevie-inspired outfits to go to Night Of 1000 Stevies and to Stevie/Mac concerts, this is your moment in the sun.

This is totally cool! A couple friends of mine are designers (trying to make it in a very tough industry), so I sent them the info.

Certainly worth a try if you have the skills.

Who knows, if there is more than one suitable choice forthcoming, Stevie might don an array of shawls during the next concert tour. Something to enhance the uniform...

It's kind of funny, because I got the impression that Stevie didn't like that old shawl they had her give Misty on AHS. She probably wishes the wardrobe people had been a little bit more creative.

I wonder if Dave had anything to do with this.

It's a smart marketing/promotional strategy; another unique way to engage Stevie's fans (and designers) and expand her fan base.

Thus far, I'm really pleased with the PR leading up to the album's release. I feel the album is going to come out with a bang.

Think what you will of Dave. But there is no denying that he's been a inspiring and motivating presence in Stevie's life.

I think Dave was the initial spark for having a "design something for Stevie" contest...If you look at the album contest tweet it's the same company (Talent House)...

Without Dave the future for Stevie and FM would no doubt be bleak...

I will never understand why some people have that mindset. This shawl contest isn't any different.

The contest will attract a diversity of people: fans who are hacks, amateurs, would be designers, and professional designers. It will generate a lot of interesting, super creative ideas and designs.

Of course Stevie and her creative team are going select from the cream of the crop. They aren't going to choose, out of emotional empathy, some amateurish, sub-standard submission from a wounded vet, or a poor 16 year old girl suffering from serious health condition who wrote a heart-felt love letter professing how Stevie's songs are keeping her alive.

Stevie is trending right now on Yahoo. When I click the link, it takes me to news items about the shawl contest. Not very timely, Yahoo.

From Rolling Stone...Shawl Contest

Fleetwood Mac frontwoman, solo artist and textile enthusiast Stevie Nicks is asking fans to design a shawl befitting of her legacy of flowy garments. The singer has partnered with Talenthouse for a competition that will reward the winner with $2,000 to produce the shawl and a professional photo of Nicks modeling the covering. The winner and the photo will also be featured on Stevie Nicks' website and social media channels. He or she will also get the shawl back.

"In 1968, a very handsome boy brought me a poncho from South America," the vocalist said in a statement. "I knew it was magic and that someday I would copy it in chiffon or leather or beaded material. I realized that wearing a poncho or a long shawl gave me something to work with up on the stage. Big movements, big twirls, you need to be seen from far away. So I made that a big part of my stage clothes. It became totally intertwined in my fashion style."

Nicks will personally select the winner based on substance, creativity and originality. A runner-up will also be selected by the Talenthouse community; he or she will get $500.

The competition ends on September 29th, with the winner set to be announced on October 14th.

The end date of the contest happens to coincide with the release date of the limited vinyl edition of Nicks' new solo album, 24 Karat Gold – Songs From the Vault, a collection of tunes she wrote between 1969 and 1987, as well as a couple from the mid-Nineties. She has said that discovering bootlegs of the tracks on YouTube inspired her to revisit them and reimagine them. The regular edition of the album is due out October 7th.

"of which" or "with which"? I guess because it may or may not exceed?

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.
