no pretty sure he's playing those. there's really no reason to do NGBA or SUD if he's not playing them.

Those songs he actually plays for sure. LIHTS is the only song I've noticed his whole career where the guitar part is totally canned. Like I said, it's just something with the picking and how the song can't properly be imitated live

It has something to do with the way the right hand picking is. You can't play the song exactly the way it is on the album live. You can get so close that 99.9% of the audience wouldn't know the difference, but for some reason he isn't playing it himself
OH!!! I did forget to report(I'm sure others have noticed) that he was playing with a pick on the last two songs of the show! He may have been before that, but I hadn't pushed up front(to give Chris her roses) until the encores(and gain the side vantage point). That's when I noticed.

but the thing is - it can, he normally could do much more than that. did you ever hear him do Red Rover at that soundcheck or Rock Away Blind, or yes, BL, or even BTLH last year? there's something going on why he has a problem now with fast picking. hope whatever it is, it gets better fast!

yeah i noticed that yesterday. but he always plays some songs with the pick. i think when he was doing original Go Insane on Unleashed and GOS tours he was playing it with the pick. i think Without You or another song on 2013 tour he played with the pick too.

Shut Us Down is 100x more difficult on the hand than LIHTS so it's kind of odd to me. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the way each guitar lick In LIHTS doubles up on the last note can't really be played live the same way it is on the record. The way he's "playing" it with his right hand sounds wrong if you actually pick up a guitar and play it that way. Sorry that might not make that much sense, but I don't really know what other way to put it over text.

Brian Larsen has a video on his insatgram of him playing it. The way he plays it isn't exactly like the album, but it's how Lindsey should do it live instead of just canning it

She's struggling to hit notes even in that key.

I hope it is Christine playing the piano part.

This is very disappointing. He was playing Big Love live on the last FM tour, surely that's harder?

On Friday, I thought she was playing it. Then someone else posted that they thought she wasn't, so now I'm not sure.

OKAY, I'm 98% sure she's not playing it. Watch this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j74ICrp_UOY

Firstly, other than Jimmy giving the tempo, there's NO reason for him to count off the song, other than if they were playing with a track. Him giving 4 clicks to start the song tells me that it's a track we're hearing.

Secondly, notice her left hand adjusting her hair, WHILE SHE'S supposedly playing the intro. Her left hand should be playing either a F#m>E chord progression, or at least F#>E bass notes. But she's adjusting her hair...

Your Honor, I rest my case... Karaoke.

It's so strange. Within 30 seconds of picking up a guitar I was able to approximate the picking so I don't understand why Lindsey isn't doing it It's definitely not a talent thing because, as you say, it's not difficult. Maybe it is because the timing of the drums is quite precise and if the guitar isn't perfect it breaks down? But even then, Lindsey is a supremely talented guitarist with decades of experience playing with a band.

And Jimmy is looking at Brett as well at the beginning, so maybe he's playing it.

If only we had a side view.

The main difference I'm pointing out, is that Jimmy isn't giving the TEMPO, he's beginning the song(HUGE DIFFERENCE). For a song that starts with piano ONLY, there's no reason for this, OTHER THAN HE'S STARTING THE KARAOKE MACHINE. I'd bet $50 on this.

I do monitors for too many acts that play with tracks, and the above is a dead giveaway.

Seriously, this is bad. How can Mr. Perfectionist Lindsey Buckingham allow this?
