I was attending the Bath Festival, but was asleep during Mayall/Green. The festival was plagued by delays and some rain of course. Much later I got hold of this recording. I missed Pink Floyd too, they also performed in the late morning.

I went down for the weekend and grabbed 40 winks in my car when I could. As the running order was so overrun I too was half asleep in the car and missed the Mayall set. I did see the Floyd set however. Their LP at the time was "Atom Heart Mother" with the cow on the cover I believe, so it was only right to have a live cow on stage when they did the tracks from it! It's a longtime ago now so I don't remember a great deal else, too much beer then probably. Steppenwolf, who were big at the time, were on with "Born To Be Wild" , I do remember that. The funniest thing was that on the way down I had dropped my parents off at my aunt and uncle's for the weekend. My aunt was very houseproud and when I returned after a long and scruffy weekend, short of sleep, and looking (and feeling) the worse for wear my aunt put a mattress out on the lawn for me to sleep on rather than have me in the house ! Happy days ! Last edited by windjammer; 02-20-2011 at 04:15 PM.. |

When I wasn't asleep;-) the highlights from the festival for me was Colosseum, great set in the afternoon, Jon Hiseman did a really fantastic drum solo that got the audience really going. Led Zeppelin also got the audience in a frenzy, playing late, around midnight, lots of encores, magical. During daytime I remember Hot Tuna was asked to function as a kind of hold pause music act. They played several long jamming sets when other bands where late, and seemed to enjoy themselves. When Jorma and Jack later joined Jefferson Airplane they had to quit their set halfway because of rain. I vaguely recall that Santana and Johnny Winter also did great sets
