He's a hero to me. Love him. That first solo record is essential.

Stephen Stills : don't know much about him (except for a couple of CSN(Y) albums and what he did with Buffalo Springfield), but he is definitely one of the greatest. And he has it all (looks (early years), great musician, great singer, and mostly great songwriter). Suite : Judy Blue Eyes is a classic, and one of my favorite songs ever.
Also he was married to a very famous french singer that i like a lot, so that helps.

I do like his music but to be honest his voice is shot. The CSN live CD/DVD from last year is pretty good but when he sings he sounds pretty bad. Crosby and Nash sound great though. I saw them open up for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on their 2010 tour and they sounded pretty good for old guys nearing 70 at the time.

He runs hot & cold with me. I go through phases. I've pretty much been ambivalent about Stills (and the whole CSNY family tree of artists) for about 10-15 years now. It's funny (ironic, not "ha-ha") that this thread should start now...just a week or so ago I listened to his first solo album again after a long stretch and was really into it...which has gotten me into listening to both CSN(Y) and Buffalo Springfield all over again.

LOL. I would have love to him or them in their prime. I'm very jealous right now. .
May 7th, which gig is that?

Clearwater, FL

I was 15 or 16 when I saw them.

Sigh. We had so much fun "back then."

Then suddenly - before you can say Suite - Judy Blue Eyes - *knock-knock* middle- age calling . . . lol.

Argh!

You mean we might've had lyrics like "There's a banana, in a fisted glove" or "There's a man with a banana over there"?

Sorry, couldn't resist.
