I did not get the new Harry Potter book because I never can concentrate on these books specifically, don't know why.

Anyway I like watching the news and seeing the people go mad.

Yeah - there were some frightening people at the midnight magic party my friend and I went to - we were calmly waiting in line - but some other people were FREAKING out...it was madness....but I got 150 pages in the first night

Ok - I just got into a slight argument with this dude at work who keeps saying how much the new book sucks....and he likes the movies only...

Catch? HE'S NEVER READ THE BOOKS.

Erg...so just don't be a movie jerk professing that the movies are so much better - IMO you can't judge that unless you've actually experienced both. [/rant]

Now I know that's totally not what you're doing - it just brought up bad memories of my earlier conversation.

I read the first 2 Harry Potter books before I saw the movies and I thought they were very similar. I can't say one is better than the other because its two total different experiences. I like both.

yes - the first two movies jive very well with the books - as a book fan the third movie has been the weakest - I'm still really bitter about some of the liberties the director took and with some of the things he left out I do still enjoy the movie though - I think of them seperately as well- and like both - but I do enjoy the books a great deal more than the movies

I agree. I love fantasy and fiction stuff...but I read the first two Potter's and wasnt that impressed. I wasn't engrossed in the story...it just wasnt enough depth for me. I prefer the more wordy Tolkien-esque style. I also enjoy the Chronicles of Narnia more.

I haven't, either. I've heard nothing but good things, though.
