Listened to the whole thing now, first thoughts: Sad Angel is definitely my favorite even though Stevie is at her Destiny Rules - nasaliest on the verses that Lindsey for some reason seems to be fine with but none of her other producers let her get away with but really dig the song. The chorus is great, the music is fun. This seems like what current mac should be.
Without You - really excited to get a real version of this track. It's good but not great - the ending just seems to go on (even though as someone else pointed out, they do the fadeouts) - too bad we just get a minute of them yeah-ing. Beyond that the new instrumental arrangement is awesome and the vocals are good - if we hadn't had the demo for years this song would be as much a favorite for me as Sad Angel and it's my fault I've been listening to the demo. It Takes Time - this is a Lindsey solo song. It's gorgeous but without a full album to put this on and make it more reflective/an album closer - it just stands out as Hey I'm a Lindsey solo song. I would love to see this end the shows instead of what currently is (not putting it in since I don't want to spoil for those trying to avoid) Miss Fantasy - fun but a bit of fluff. Someone else pointed out John's great bass on this track which is about the only real highlight. Very excited to get new Mac music at all - even if it is very Lindsey heavy.

Disappointing, needs more Stevie. And I agree with what someone else said, "Sad Angel" is really cool and "Without You" sounds weird.

I said it earlier but I'll say it again. Even though this is very Lindsey-heavy, I still think this is an excellent starting point for an album to follow. Just the music in general feels.....better than what we got on Say You Will. Not the production, I mean, but the overall songs themselves.

lol I don't think Sad Angel is vintage FM but it's definitely the step I think the band needs to take, sound-wise. And as for why I think it's better than Say You Will, most of the album was already dated by the time it came out with all the Lindsey tracks. lol

Man, It Takes Time sounds like it belongs on UTS. If I put my head in the oven and played Under the Skin, Not Too Late and Under the Skin back to back, I'd die -- without any need for gas. At least it would be an environmentally sound way to go.
I do like the It Takes Time lyrics though. I want to save you, Linds. Michele |

Agreed. I don't think it's better than SYW. And I probably need to warm up to some of it. But glad to have something to warm up to.

I love Miss Fantasy and it reminds me of the Bee Gees a bit (more than SHN does!) and I'm also glad that even though Lindsey obviously wanted to hit higher notes at points during the song (he may have even used a falsetto in places on it, back in the day) he didn't go in and mechanically alter his voice to create artificial range. I'm happy about that.
Frothy and bittersweet. It gives me a little ache. The way it's light but sad reminds me of the content of Chris' songs. Michele |

I really think it's fantastic. I'm almost gaga over "It Takes Time." "Without You" was never going to top the original, but as nice an update as I could have hoped for. I'm really liking the studio version of "Sad Angel"; "Miss Fantasy" reminds me of SYHA (a good thing).
I think it would hold up well against any album they've done post-Tusk.

I've never owned an i pod or an MP3 player. I don't even know how to work them. Seriously.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this effort, if only because it's SOMETHING. At last!! Of course I have my quibbles (needs more Stevie, needs anything and everything at all from Chris), but I just can't get lost in that right now because the truth is that I am very happy to be listening to new music from my favourite band. |

Just finished listening to it. It's good, but I'm wondering why they didn't cut some tracks that took better advantage of the musicians in the band.
Sad Angel is probably the best track on the EP. It lacks a bit of the pep that the live version has, but it still rocks pretty well. Without You is the prime example of what I mean when I say I'm confused as to why they didn't choose tracks that better highlight the musicians in the band. The song is far too busy-sounding. In all honesty, I don't think the drums or bass guitar are really necessary for the song. I think it would have been better with just Lindsey and his guitar with Stevie. It Takes Time is a very strong and surprising track from Lindsey. I think this would have made a great closing song for a new Fleetwood Mac album. Miss Fantasy is a solid, almost Mirage-era style of Fleetwood Mac song. It's clearly written with the more commercial, pop sentimentality in mind, but that's not a bad thing at all. Overall, I like the EP, and it would have been a solid foundation upon which to build a new Fleetwood Mac album, but I'm sure that's something we won't ever see once this EP doesn't sell well thanks to a lack of promotion. |

The chorus of It Takes Time borrows both the melody and some of the lyrics from Show You How, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't like the ripoff of Show You How in It Takes Time-- lyrics and melody. c'mon Lindsey, you can do better.
