Default Rose Garden

So Rose Garden came on my mix today and I thought what a great song. I haven’t heard it in a while, so I really enjoyed the vocal. I thought it was too bad Stevie couldn’t have squeezed in a country album in over the years..........
After the Glitter Fades, Too Far From Texas, For What it’s Worth....It would have been stellar for sure. Thoughts?

I'm not a huge fan of Rose Garden myself. Her vocal is VERY klonopin here, one-note and droning. I like the music and lyrics okay though. The RAL demo has worse music but more what I would have liked to see from a vocal (i.e. Some emotion).

I like her 1998 Enchanted Tour performances of the song from her energy alone. She seems to really enjoy playing the song and the band creates a great vibe with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzZ6-k_Omgw

Agreed on a country album, I actually enjoy most of her country esque songs. I wish she had recorded them all around the time of Bella Donna, those were her PEAK vocals for that style of song.

After the Glitter Fades
That's Alright
Too Far From Texas
Sorcerer
Think About It
Rose Garden
Borrowed
For What It's Worth

Lots of others have distinct country influences too (Blue Water, much of Bella Donna and TISGL).

I would add I Still Miss Someone and It's Late. Also, Outside the Rain has just a hint of country, as does Leather and Lace, which I read she originally wrote for Waylon Jennings, I think. Never heard of Borrowed- is it from 24 Karat?

I always thought a country album would have been good. Sheryl Crow did it and had some success.

It would have been a good move a few years ago. Don't forget her Crossroads with Lady A.

I have an interview somewhere where she said she sent After the Glitter Fades to Dolly Parton to record but never heard back from her.

Her recent vocal on Southern Accents, a countryish song written by Tom Petty, is stellar.
