You have great instincts! This is the exact same the passage I thought would be appropriate to edit out, and wouldn't be missed.

Perhaps, but it's a much more pleasant,upbeat song, unlike the drone of Lady.

You May Be The One is also one of her longer songs that could be paired down. But I love it the way it is.

Didn't really happen, IMHO, on 24karat or on IYD where, in both cases, Dave Stewart let her make things as long and repetitive as she wanted.

Those repeating choruses at the end have been the downfall of many of her songs produced by Dave. Clearly he doesn't see the need/ have the fortitude to tell her a song is too long and sabotaging itself by being too long.

Lindsey, of course, had no such qualms, and *mostly* (though not always) it made her songs better. If only he'd learned diplomacy a lot sooner, we'd all be benefitting.

Don't be sorry - you're right.I think this is why she went on and on about how wonderful an experience it was to work with Dave,because he LET her go on and on....I really don't like Bucky myself and he is a real thorn in Stevie's side but he's a thorn that keeps her on her toes IMO.

And I stop the song after the first repeat of the first verse...before we get tortured by the first of multiple repeats of "And the time keeps going...." There's a nice pause there where you *think* it will end, and where it *should* end. So I put it out of its misery and end it there.

LOL. When we had 45s, maybe the single would have ended there.
