Default Next FM tour "not a farewell tour" says Lindsey

This is slightly interesting. I swear I've seen most of this interview somewhere else, but the end of it is something I haven't read before. Perhaps it opens up the possibility of a timeframe for more Mac recordings (I'm an eternal optimist). You've got to wonder how physically and/or musically capable one or two of them will be in fewer years than we might imagine.

Q: Next month, you'll play a couple of Fleetwood Mac festival dates, then next year is supposed to be a farewell tour, maybe?

A: Well, I've been hearing that, "farewell tour." Where did that come from?

Q: I read it in another article about the new album. Are you not ready to say goodbye to Fleetwood Mac?

A: It's not a question of being ready or not ready, but we've never as a band talked about this being our last tour, so I'm a little curious about that.

Q: You don't see it as a farewell tour?

A: I certainly don't. And given how long people seem to keep going and how we all feel individually, I would be shocked - but stranger things have happened.

I think this next tour should be their farewell tour. If they do another one, Christine and John will be pushing 80 and the rest of them will be like 75 and John is a cancer survivor and he still smokes too, doesn't he? Fleetwood Mac needs to end on a high note. Christine came back, they did a big tour. Stevie got to do some solo stuff. Christine and Lindsey did their album and mini tour. 2018-2019 should be their farewell.

Hopefully with a big Glastonbury performance to finish off.

We can but dream.

As much as I love the band, I agree. They're getting up there in age and aren't doing anything all that interesting anymore, collectively as five.

If it were all to end in 2019, I would concede Glastonbury would be a pretty good place for the final sunset. But I'm still holding out for a perfectly-formed jewel of an eleven or twelve track album from the five of them just as a final throwback to their heyday. What a parting gift that would be.

Me too....but we might have to settle for the 10 track jewel from Buckingham Mc Vie.

Thank you for putting this up. I remembered Christine's comment in the Rolling Stone interview that said: "But Lindsey and I, we have plenty of songs. There are tons more in the bag that we have yet to record. And they're fantastic." I hope they do continue. I am disappointed that Mick and John did not go along on the Buckingham McVie tour.

I really hope the set list is quite a bit different than OWTS. Lindsey gave a date when they were going to start rehearsing and it seemed pretty early to me. Hopefully means that they'll be working on new arrangements of songs. Songs like GYOW and I'm so Afraid desparetly need to be changed up. Would like to see them do GYOW similar to the the SYW tour version.

Considering how Lindsey loves things coming full circle, I wouldnt be surprised if he is holding out hope for one more Mac LP aside from anymore solo or duet offerings. He seems to love the legacy almost as much as Mick does since 97 at least.

He's planted his stake in the ground that HE'S not the one pulling the plug on FM now or for the foreseeable future. If anyone else in the band does, that's on them. Well played, Mr. B. Well played.

I always found it odd that they have already talked about the end. He's the youngest. Of course he will want to tour more and maybe record another album. He's not giving up on that.

I wouldn't mind seeing a final Fleetwood Mac album with Chris, John, Lindsey and Mick. That would be great.

I agree, although it's sort of what we already have now with Buckingham McVie, minus the name. They should continue to carry on.
