I'm not sure Mick is actually playing piano in the traditional sense. I think that device only plays notes in a selected key. All Mick is doing is tapping out a rhythm while the notes change as he moves up or down the device, but only notes in that key are played. He's never actually at risk of hitting a wrong note.

Little factoid: Jimmy Hotz also produced Dave Mason's "Two Hearts" album in 1987.

^^ Um, yeah... In fact, the whole point of this Hotz Translator gizmo is to enable a non-musician to compose music (albeit, crappy music). Mick is pretty much saying, "lookie here... even I can do it!"
