Thoughts on getting tickets
Since crunch time is approaching, I have some thoughts on tickets for the upcoming shows.
The fan club idea is nice, but flawed. First, it is a potential gold mine for scalpers since the $60. fee allows you to buy 4 tickets for EACH show. Even the average "hard core" FM fan probably will only see one or two shows, so this seems like overkill. Now scalpers will get early access to the best seats, and the $60 registration fee is spread over many potentially huge markups. For someone like me, who will be going solo to a single show, that $60. fan club fee is basically a 75-100% markup on my ticket price. If I'm going to go, I definitely want a chance at the best seats, but by the public onsale date, these will most likely be gone. I don't know if this will offend some here, but I'm extending an offer to anyone who is joining the fan club. I will pay you $20. for the right to use your presale information to get a single ticket to either Boston or Worcester. As long as you aren't in this region, it won't crowd you out (ie use up your 4 tickets for that show). Additionally, if others who are planning on seeing different shows want to split the fan club fee, please email me. The fan club system benefits 2 groups. The record label who is running it (and raking in the signup fees), and the scalpers who will get huge ebay.com markups. I think that fans banding together is the only way to get the good tickets in the hands of the fans. Mike mpoday@hotmail.com |
