Billy Burnette: Try Me Review
By Richard Defendorf of The Sentinel Staff, August 18, 1985
(4 star) Billy Burnette, Try Me (MCA/Curb 5604): Billy Burnette is the son of the late bassist Dorsey Burnette and nephew of the late Johnny Burnette, both of whom helped shape rockabilly in the '50s. Billy has recorded his share of rockabilly but, on many live and studio outings, has showed his penchant for the conventions of straight, hard rock.Which is why Try Me is something of a surprise. Not only is Try Me rockabilly but it is the best rockabilly Burnette has turned out since his 1980 Columbia disc, Billy Burnette. |
