I'm exhausted so I'll write more tomorrow. I had a FANTASTIC time though! They let me upgrade my lawn seats and I ended up in the fourth row on Lindsey's side so can't complain at all about the seating issues or anything. Though I had a very overzealous man in a Jethro Tull shirt (was with another very boozed up buddy in some other rock band shirt. Why would you wear shirts from a whole other band to a show?) and he kept killing my photos whooping his hands in the air and doing some weird stuff. Haha. Also saw a girl dressed like Stevie in the second row. I wore a Fleetwood Mac shirt I picked up at one of the concerts from the last tour with a 70s era photo of the group because while I do enjoy dressing up like Stevie, didn't see the point tonight. I completely fell in love with the new album tonight and I really especially seemed to enjoy all of Christine's songs but really wasn't a bad song in the set. I am SUPER BUMMED though especially with a seat so great that while I had my really nice camera with me I forgot both to check the batteries or bring my extras so camera was dead and I was so desperate I was trying to find someone else with a camera because I'd have paid for batteries. Haha. I really enjoy concert photography and my camera would've gotten some great video as well. Phone didn't do as well but may share a few of my best when I get a chance. I can't seem to get the whole camera thing right. Forgot my camera (and even my wallet and phone!) at the last Mac show I was at (Valentine's day 2015 in Chicago). Apparently I get too excited and my brain stops working.

Scored the signed vinyl (but bent a corner when I got home, ugh!) and the signed CD plus the slim fit shirt and hoodie. I'm a band merch collector and ended up at the tent twice.

Biggest joy of my night though was catching all the women up at the front of the stage begging for picks and setlists. I went racing up as well and scored a LB pick!!! I'm beyond jazzed by this because I'll probably never get this close at another show (just so hard with my health and this venue was extremely tough on me as well and left really sick but so worth it!) Was a little bit gross the way some folks begged and begged and got stuff and kept on begging. When I was handed my pick I thanked the crew member who gave it to me and was on my way. But oooh pick!!!! I'm probably going to frame my LP and place the pick with it. Most cherished part of my big FM collection.

BTW- saw in another thread, someone had heard the band was crazy rushed getting to this show and their schedule was odd but they began about five before 9 so seemed like any issues ended up working out. I didn't really see the opener though I heard some because given how poorly my body handles the heat and humidity I intentionally arrived after 8. Still want to give the Wallflowers a good listen some time.

Anyway, more tomorrow but so exhausted. Feeling better physically at least from how sick I was right after but I'm so thrilled I got to go and scored such lovely seats. Sorry you paid for your Ryan but hope you had similar great seats. Mind if I ask where you were seated? Have any photos to share? Was really hard to get any of Christine from my spot. I really don't know what it was about this show but I'm more in love with Christine than ever (I've always loved the entire Rumours lineup hardcore but Chris was probably my least fave. This has definitely changed!) My mom really enjoyed the show as well and it was nice to get to share this with her. She would normally refuse to let me buy her tickets and hasn't been to any shows in probably a decade so I'm glad she got to get away and have a fun night as well. Think it added to the experience for me.

Going to bed smiling. Oh, and crowd definitely grew considerably from the sparse reports earlier in the night. Hard to say how many people were there total because they seemed relatively spread out but more than I had expected and everyone around me was super into it and very gracious. Lots of "I love you Christine!", "Love you Lindsey!" moments and such and people seemed to cheer as much forthe new stuff as the classics. Really think it was a great batch of songs for live performance.

a friend reported in our facebook group that "when I passed through here last Saturday about the free ticket offer or even just purchasing regular tickets and was told they were totally sold out, however I would say the place was only 3/4 full if that." she said that unlike Toronto, where the crowd was great and into the show, the crowd at this show sucked, other than the front row center section that was allowed up to the rail. It might have been my view but to me it sure looked like only the front row on Christine's side was allowed up. Like only people at that far side. Was kind of odd since I'm used to seeing the crowd of women around Lindsey but no one at all was up on that side.

I don't think the crowd sucked. Wasn't like other shows I've been to and I mentioned issues with the guy in front of me but people seemed into it and cheered loud and often around me. Venue is also mostly flat which I think played a role in the standing or not but Go Your Own Way and beyond most of us stood the rest of the time in my section. I will say I didn't really notice anyone else singing along much but I did. I've definitely seen far worse crowds at shows (will never forget my first big concert as a young teen, floor seats at the Palace of Auburn Hills for Sarah McLachlan and a very drunk group of women sat in front of me discussing how they didn't even know who Sarah was. That totally killed my vibe!) So I mean I didn't hear anyone openly asking who they were or wishing for Stevie or something. The free tickets made it interesting but I was told most of the free tickets were on the lawn anyhow. No idea how many other folks upgraded like I did. And definitely saw some otherfoljs in my section with Mac shirts on and that's Stevie girl.

So eh, maybe I'm being generous but from where I was, crowd was better than I expected honestly. Could've done without Jethro Tull shirt jumping up and down acting like he was looking for a mosh pit.

Agree though about Lindsey probably battling a bug. He seemed lower energy than I was used to and would have these moments he'd closehis eyes and seem to maybe be stealing himself away, pushing on. He still rocked it but definitely saw some moments where he seemed to be not 100% but I also heard it was a very hectic day for the band getting to Mount Pleasant from Toronto as well so wonder if that factored in. Anyway, thought it was a great show and I'm only bummed I missed Detroit the other day because I'd totally see it again.

I was a couple rows behind you I saw Jethro

The crowd was very spread out. I wouldn't give it 50% full. Remember the "free tickets" also got you cash in the casino so many "loyalty members" probably swooped them up just for that. I was amazed how few remained for Game of Pretend. It looked like a JV sporting event by the last chord. My row of 25? Seats had just the two of us for the last song (9th row mind you)

I was also surprised by the recorded backing tracks. While I knew this existed I was surprised by the quantity of it. Because of LBs coughing early in the show he missed several cues. The song songs sounded normal and when he re-entered it was hard to tell a difference. The grunting in IMW for instance is all recorded, all the "Tusk" shouts for both CM and LB are recorded. It appeared that almost all chorus parts for LB were recorded too, and he could choose to sing on top or just mouth as needed. There were even two times I saw CM try to sing a line at the wrong time and nothing audible came out. That could be her catching herself, but she sang multiple words each time it happened. I felt like we got to see behind the curtain a little. The guy at the soundboard must be a busy man. At least the quantity was new to me. I've never been that close. I have my doubts on some of the instrumentation too but I'm not sure.

Wonder why they don't use prerecorded parts they actually need - like verses of Red Sun that Christine for some reason seems to flub so much that LB has taken to singing them softly with her instead of doing harmonies.

I do think they probably have prerecorded extra layers on choruses or weird noises (remember Peacekeeper noise from SYW tour?).

I loved that in Raleigh Christine sang the SATC bridge on her own and wish I recorded that. The other two shows I saw they sang it together.

I caught a lot of this too (though really couldn't see Christine's face well enough after dark to be sure when she was singing at all! I always end up on Lindsey's side at every show somehow). Heat makes me brain foggy so I'm bad at recalling the specifics but super impressed when fans like you can. I definitely remember one of the coughs and LB coming in late and thinking to myself "well, there's the recorded backing everyone was talking about". I think it was during Tusk where at one point he was back by the drummer and I started to get nervous because I thought he was going to miss his cue entirely to get back to the mic. He made it back but definitely was a recorded voice that started in before he chimed in over top.

I'm laughing that you saw the Jethro guy too. I tried to be polite in my summary of him but I definitely had some major moments of frustration with that guy! I swear at one point he shouted "You guys are bada**!" Seemed he thought he was at a hard rock show.

You might have seen me as well then too. I was just to the right of that guy, short, auburn hair in a ponytail, danced in my seat a lot and sang along, and also had an ice pack with me I was holding to my head for much of the show. Really wasn't feeling too well but when the show started I was so pumped with adrenaline I hardly noticed. I assume I'm a super dorky dancer though. 😉

Because I was so far up front I never did get a really good look around but definitely noticed how spread out folks were. And definitely a lot of people left early. Seemed like it took a little longer than expected for the encore anyway but I was surprised by how many people in the front couple of rows left then. Thought the Stevie lookalike and her mother had left early even but then saw them after the show up at the front hoping for picks and setlists.

Did you take any pictures? I know there was what appeared to be a professional photographer who not only got up front on Lindsey's side but even squeezed behind the rails but I don't know if she was with the band or a local paper or what. Sure she got some great shots. Still bummed about my camera. Would've liked to have had a high quality shot I took myself to frame with my pick. But I had fun so I'm happy. Hope Lindsey has some time to recoiperate from whatever he was fighting off.

They are 2/5 of one of the greatest bands in music history. Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac brought their tour to Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant. Here's what you missed at the concert on July 6, 2017.


ACOUSTIC BEGINNING



SONG #1: "Trouble"


Many in the crowd immediately recognized the first song of the night. With a little help from McVie on the keyboard, Buckingham plucked his guitar and performed one of his biggest solo hits "Trouble." This started a string of acoustic songs to begin the concert.


SONG #2: "Wish You Were Here"


Now it was McVie's turn to take lead with this 1982 Fleetwood Mac song from their "Mirage" album. It's not a well-known song by the band, but it was great to see McVie let her vocals be heard.


SONG #3: "Never Going Back Again"


This is one of Buckingham's more emotional songs off the huge 1977 "Rumours" album. He didn't disappoint with this performance as he really got into it. The crowd gave the duo one of their loudest ovations of the night when this one ended.


SONG #4: "Shut Us Down"


This song comes from Buckingham's fourth solo album "Under the Skin" from 2006. Another solid performance which ended the acoustic portion of the show. On comes the band.




STRING OF NEW SONGS


The first four songs with the full band were all from the duo's new album. Each song alternated lead singers as they performed "Sleeping Around the Corner," "Feel About You," "In My World" and "Too Far Gone."

Hearing these new songs live is as close to new Fleetwood Mac music as you can get. The duo stays true to their Fleetwood Mac sound with solid lyrics, strong lead vocals and excellent harmonies.



THREE FLEETWOOD MAC CROWD PLEASERS


After the audience enjoyed some new stuff, it was time for more classics beginning with the 1982 hit "Hold Me." I don't know the last time Fleetwood Mac performed this live, but I have never seen it performed at a concert by them. This song is one of the more fun Fleetwood Mac songs which is all about the harmonies.

Next, another fan favorite with McVie on lead with "Little Lies" from the 1987 album "Tango in the Night." The crowd that hadn't yet risen to their feet for "Hold Me" gave in to the music and couldn't help but stand up for this one.

Then came one of the more unusual hits from Fleetwood Mac with "Tusk." The song is the title track from the band's 12th album, released in 1979. If you've never heard this song, search for it on YouTube. It's a little different sound than you might expect from the band.


MORE NEW MATERIAL


After three huge crowd pleasers, the duo showcased two more songs off the new album with Buckingham on lead for "Love is Here to Stay" and McVie on lead for "Red Sun."



THREE MORE FLEETWOOD MAC SONGS


Next, one of McVie's signature Fleetwood Mac songs with "You Make Loving Fun." Following that is a song you might hear Buckingham perform at one of his solo shows with "I'm So Afraid." It's off the band's 1975 studio album "Fleetwood Mac." Then, one of the group's signature songs to end the show before the encore with "Go Your Own Way." Before leaving the stage, the entire crowd gave them a standing ovation.



THE ENCORE


The crowd was hoping to hear a little more Fleetwood Mac, and the duo delivered with another huge hit with McVie on lead for "Everywhere." The show ended with two more new songs with "Lay Down for Free" and "Game of Pretend."


FINAL THOUGHTS


Buckingham and McVie gave a solid performance overall. There was a good mix of new songs, Fleetwood Mac hits, deep tracks and solo songs to give a little something for every fan in the audience.

Some may have wished Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were also on stage at this concert, but seeing the great chemistry both Buckingham and McVie have together was a rare treat.
