Cool Kolors Band Tour

Well, I finally recieved a copy of the 12-13-84 Kolors Band show from Germany. I really enjoyed it...the energy of the crowd was great! The band played very well, and Peter sounded great!

Anyone have any earlier Peter stuff after he left the Mac?

I'll exchange trading lists.

You mean the Stuttgart show? Peter sings well, but you can tell from the guitar
playing he wasn't that well. It simple but tasteful though.
You noticed that the other guitar player, Alfred Bannerman, plays many of the solos?
The fast ones.
I've listed the post-Mac, pre-Splinter Green shows I have here. Would be wonderful
if anyone has more from this era. No sight of any late-70's gigs yet (with Snowy White).

Smile Show date

On the recording I recieved...a very nice audience recording...the date and city is clearly mentioned by one of the band members as Dec. 13, 84' Franfurt, Germany...I agree Peter's playing isn't as dominant as with the Mac...I'm finally glad to be able to hear some live stuff between the Mac and Splinter Group

Hey, thanks for the correct date.
What's interesting is that, in Martin Celmins's book on Peter, he claims that
Kolors disbanded "in fall 1984", but from recorded evidence the band carried on until
the very end of the year, perhaps even into early 1985?

No problem Dino...the venue is listed as the Sinkkasten(master), Frankfurt Germany(West at that point in history)...I haven't read Martin's book...could a link be provided with the name of this book...I would like to read it!

Is this Frankfurt show something that's just turned up, or is it one of the other shows that dino listed above (and has previously been labeled as something else)? Thanks!

The author of the book is Martin Celmins. You can find it cheap at www.amazon.com
or www.amazon.co.uk in paperback.
It's a good but frustratingly brief biography. Martin had apparently no control over
the latest edition; the new chapter is written by somebody else (and is very
superficial).

The frustrating thing with the Kolors period is that the info is so thin. Greeny was
ill most of the time and probably doesn't remember much. The other band members
are kind of obscure, most of the '84 lineup came from the African band Osibisa.
Besides Jeff Whittaker, who accidentally is the conga player on Steve Stills
first, superb, solo lp.
In fact, Martin claims also in the liner notes to "Kolors" that the band disbanded in early
autumn 1984. That's obviously to early.

I think the Stuttgart 12/84 show surfaced recently. It is a soundboard, I had listed
it incorrectly as an audience tape.

5. Loser Two Times 5:20
6. In The Skies 6:52
7. Love That Burns 8:23
8. ? Man of The World 4:32
9. Big Boy Now 6:01
10. Oh Well 6:09
11. Frankfurt mention by band member> Black Magic

12. band member says "Thank you very much" 0:23

CD 2

4. The Date and City mentioned by band member as"

5. Encore: I Need Your Love So Bad 7:56

This is a nice audience recording from a not very large venue, the trader I recieved this from lists it as Sinkkasten (Master) rated an A.

Hope this clarifies things. I've never heard of the song # 2 on CD 2...it's my best guess from the lyrics.

Also, I've never heard Man of the World...as this song is on compilations, or hits packages...which I've never purchased...I have the regular releases of all Fleetwood Mac with Peter, and his solo, and Splinter Group releases.

Thanks for posting the tracklist, robm! The copy of the "Stuttgart" show I have that could be the same show as yours - mine cuts off before the end of "Green Manalishi" so that mention of the Frankfurt location and date would not be there....but I'll check if that other mention of Frankfurt is there between "Oh Well" and "Black Magic Woman".

You need to get one of the compilations with "Man Of The World"! The import Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits would be a good one to get, as it also has the studio version of "Green Manalishi", "Albatross", Danny's "Dragonfly", etc. I checked this title on the Amazon website and the odd thing is there appear to be two different versions with the same cover artwork but different tracklists - one version does not include some of these great tracks. This is the one that includes the tracks above (from Amazon UK): http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...253816-4982039

I listened to a few short bits of my "Stuttgart" show this morning and heard some things that should help determine whether it's a different show than your Frankfurt one.

Mine seems to be a very good quality audience recording, not soundboard (audience chatter is audible but not loud).

Someone (from the band or audience?) clearly shouts out "Stuttgart" between "Oh Well" and "Black Magic Woman". Doesn't necessarily mean that's where the show was played, but....

As I mentioned in my previous post, Green Manalishi cuts off before the end of the song, and it's the last track from my copy of this show. The audio cuts off about 9:44 into the track.

On my discs, there is a track labeled "Black Magic Woman / Band Intro" but the band is not really introduced at that point. A band member (probably Jeff Whittaker?) talks for awhile before the next track starts up. Among the things he says: "You're so wonderful, you almost make me feel like a star. So many smiling faces tonight. I hope you're gonna have a fight...inside...you know, with love...you gotta love with love." Whitaker continues talking, and someone in the audience calls out for "music" a couple of times, then Whittaker says something about if he was a taxi driver and "don't you rain on my parade". All that should be pretty easy to pick out if it's on your show, robm!
