I really like Christine's piano on it. Danny kicks some butt on the guitar, too.

The only problem I have with the studio version is Chris's vocal - she was surely capable of a better performance - otherwise it's a great song. The live versions I've heard kick ass.

I agree about the vocal. Musically, I love the song. It was recorded during that "vocally challenged" period for Chris. That Heroes bootleg version is fantastic!!

"Homeward Bound" is on the Bare Trees album. I was referring to the live 1974 Hempstead bootleg version.

I agree with you on that.

I'd love to hear a live version of it.

Maybe MacFan could post it? Grovel Grovel

Gail, I'll post "Homeward Bound" from the Hempstead boot later this morning. I've got to eat breakfast first. I'll be surprised if you don't really like it.

"So I'll have another drink and a cigarette just to consule myself somehow"

Yeah, I love it. Always have. Her voice fits perfectly to the lyrics of being worn out, fatigued and sick of traveling.

"Home life to me seems really neat"

I posted it earlier in this thread. You'd better hurry, it's expires in another day. It's from Hempstead, NY in Oct. 1974.

"Homeward Bound" is an interesting song because you tend to think of pining ballads filled with homesickness as being slow, languid melodies, not rollicking rock & roll songs. So Chris deftly creates a tension here, given the anomalistic pairing of plaintive lyrics & powerchorded, rolling, even crunching music, which creates an emotional dichotomy & a thematic disjoint, leaving the listener breathless & disjangled, cruising in the neurasthenic twilight of a jingly buzz.

Oh, duh. I have to learn how to read. I was too late, though, the file expired.
