I would love this, but I'll take it with a pinch of salt given how slowly the machine tends to get going on this sort of thing.

If it happens, do we think that tracks from the EP would be included? I love Sad Angel, Miss Fantasy and Without You.

Sad Angel is a must. And I really love It Takes Time - that really should be on there too.

I was driving yesterday and I put Rumours on. My mind conjured up images of Christine and Lindsey enthusiastically working on new songs together. I was in such a good mood by the end of the journey.

Hmm. Can Fleetwood Mac actually bust out an album and release it by summer? I'm not so sure they can move so quickly. I hope so, though!

Very true! And they could have a studio and live version of it.

Yes, that might work. *crosses fingers*

I don't know what Stevie's attitude to an album would be. Would she write something new for it, as she did with SYW, in addition to bringing in existing demos or superfluous material from IYD? I still sense a reluctance to re-enter the studio with FM, though I'd hope Christine's potential involvement might change that.

On the Christine front, presumably before she sets foot in the studio they need to get her to agree to tour. I'm sure now that, with her recent re-emergence into public and musical life, this won't be as hard as before, but would they - do you think - make her commit to a world tour? Surely they don't necessarily want to suffer the blow which they endured in 97/98 when they only got the income from 40 dates and then had to reinvent themselves when Christine left.

My guess is she probably would write something new as she has songs but might begin to feel self-conscious about them not being fresh. So, she'd write new stuff, but she did 4 songs for SYW in like a month.

She might still be reluctant, but she can work with Dave or someone else if she wants. I think not being represented on the album or only having old songs on the album would be less desirable to her than the reluctance about recording with FM.

I definitely think Stevie would offer Fleetwood Mac a mix of a few newly-written songs and some "vaulted" ones. In the past, it's seemed very important to her that she bring something brand new to the table (even for 'The Dance'), and I can't imagine she'd feel any differently this time out.

As for her reluctance to record with Fleetwood Mac... Christine's return is a game-changer. The aspects of the whole 'Say You Will' experience that left her feeling unhappy, wouldn't be in play with Christine on board.

I have been closely following this band and it's various solo projects for the better part of 35 years. When it comes to recording production, they work very slowly. I'm going out on a limb to say THERE IS ABSOLUTLEY NO WAY THAT FLEETWOOD MAC WILL HAVE A NEW STUDIO ALBUM OUT by summer 2014. Logistically speaking, there is still too much to work through (John's continued recovery, Chris' return/touring and in what capacity, what record label, who will produce, etc...)

If, in fact, Chris has agree to do this, my realistic scenario is this:
----2014 will be spent writing, recording and securing a label deal.
----new album released Spring 2015 with tour to follow.

I agree with you J Stew on all fronts. I know Stevie has some songs from the vault that she will feel its time to release. She also said she wrote some songs after her moms passing that may be a good fit for the new album. I'm very excited to hear these three voices together again.

I had forgotten about how she supposedly wrote an album's worth of material following her Mother's passing. I'd think she would certainly bring in these songs as "new" material. No doubt, she has plenty of far more ancient stuff she'd bring to the table, too.

I agree that the Mac hasn't worked quickly in the recording studio since 1975. However, recording technology has taken a giant leap forward since the last time Fleetwood Mac recorded a full album. There are no longer tapes, tape machines, layering of different instrumental/vocal recordings, etc to worry about. Now everything is instantly recorded digitally, can be instantly played back, & is instantly configurable thanks to things like ProTools. Without You was completely recorded in what, like 2 days? Fleetwood Mac probably WILL take their time recording new work, but they don't have to.
