Default Coneheads

I rembember these pictures from Mick's 1993 photos book, but no idea about the story behind it. Does anybody know why they wore those coneheads?

It was a popular skit on Saturday Night Live, maybe a year or two earlier—or maybe right at that time (1978-79). It was, I imagine, the band members allowing themselves to be silly. And it sure beats their politically-incorrect Halloween costumes!

You mean these?

And talking about Halloween, what year is this? By the haircuts it looks more close to Tango days, than Mirage. But I doubt that in 1987 they were in the mood to go together to a party.

OMG is this a real photo!? How have I not been aware of this in the 25 years I've been a fan. That shot of Mick might have to be my new profile picture.

How have you not seen this? I've had it on my computer for 20 years. It's amazing how un PC the world was back then.

I must have tripped and fallen into Stevie's Klonopin stash. I'm pretty aware of FM/SN pictures, even the lesser known ones...but apparently not this. I don't know how this has slipped past me for 20+ years.
