Question Very Best of Fleetwood Mac has no Pre-Rumours

I've often wondered why, and it just occured to me that maybe you guys could help me out.

I guess the Fleetwood Mac on that album is the band consisting of Stevie, Lindsey, and Chris, right? Then why is Sky's The Limit (from Behind The Mask which does not have Lindsey on it) on there? If Sky's The Limit could make it on the Very Best Of album, why not any of the Fleetwood Mac that really started it all?

I love this band.

The Buckingham-Nicks era Fleetwood Mac and the pre-BN era Mac are very different, and the early Mac stuff would sound out of place next to the BN-era stuff. So, it's a good thing that they don't put them together on one compilation, IMO.

Well, consider the reasonable aspect of space! To have a comprehensive "Best of" of every era of Fleetwood Mac, you would need at least 4 discs. This band is very unique in that it has had several different and distinct lives (and fan bases). The recent Best of was to encapsulate the band as it existed from 1975 onward, laying ground for the new Say You Will release.

Perhaps, for accuracy sake, they should have specified with dates -- in the title-- exactly what era of the band this "Best of" represented.

Notably, in the UK version ---where the blues era band was very popular -- they did include a few Peter Green tunes. Still, that seems very incongruous to me. If anything, they should also release a Best of from that era. Hell, how about one from the Bob Welch era?

Yeah, any REAL "Very Best of..." would seriously have to include:

Black Magic Woman
Need Your Love So Bad
Albatross
Man Of The World
Shake Your Moneymaker
Oh Well
Green Manalishi
Station Man
Woman Of A 1000 Years
Future Games
Sentimental Lady
Spare Me A Little
Sunny Side Of Heaven
Hypnotized
Why
Heroes Are Hard To Find
Bermuda Triangle

Actually, I think a 30-disc box set: FLEETWOOD MAC COMPLETE is in order.

Yeah, I'm sure you'll find something on the Chain box from pre 75 that you'll like. Though the BH stuff may be considered jarringly different to the BN stuff, I wouldn't say the TPO to HAHTF stuff is that different to Bn era Mac really, so I'm confident you'll like something there.

John
