Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist undergoes open heart surgery yesterday In this Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 file photo, Lindsey Buckingham performs at The Wilbur Theatre on in Boston. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lindsey Buckingham underwent open heart surgery that left the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist with damaged vocal cords. Buckingham’s publicist said in a statement Friday that he experienced chest pains last week and was taken to the hospital where he had the life-saving procedure. Buckingham is recovering at home with his family. The 69-year-old rocker’s wife, Kristen Buckingham, said on social media that it’s unclear if the damage after the surgery is permanent. She says the past year has been stressful, but she is thankful her husband is still alive. Last year, Buckingham sued Fleetwood Mac after being kicked off the band’s new tour.

Same! I keep scouring the internet for more info and I am glad that it appears he/they recognized the signs and reacted correctly. Too many people pass it off and do nothing!

I hadn't seen that before either. I want to know - was he taken to the hospital in a car by his family after feeling some pain? Or in an ambulance after a severe episode? I guess I just want to be reassured that it wasn't as bad as I initially envisioned (although bad enough).

My guess is that Beautiful Child was correct about the tracheotomy. His face also looks swollen. They probably had to assault him a bit to perform revival efforts and bring him back around.
The paramedics would not be the first to want to beat him up. Thanks for saving his life. Last edited by michelej1; 02-10-2019 at 03:48 PM.. |

Ex-Fleetwood Mac Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham Suffers Vocal Cord Damage The 69-year-old is currently recuperating after undergoing emergency open heart surgery last week. By David Barden Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has suffered vocal cord damage after undergoing emergency open heart surgery last week. Buckingham’s wife, Kristen, said that while the rock legend “and his heart are doing well,” it remains unclear whether or not the damage to his vocal cords is permanent, though she is “hopeful it is not.” “Needless to say, all touring and shows currently scheduled have been put on pause for the moment as he gathers the strength to heal completely,” she wrote in an Instagram post Friday. The 69-year-old, who helped propel Fleetwood Mac to international fame by writing and singing such notable hits as “Go Your Own Way” and “Tusk”, was kicked off the band’s world tour last year without any formal explanation. In October, Buckingham announced he was suing his former bandmates for his dismissal, claiming that he should still be entitled to his share of tour revenues because he still wants to be in the group. “This past year has been a very stressful and difficult year for our family to say the least,” Kristen Buckingham said. “But despite all this, our gratitude for life trumps all obstacles we have faced at this moment. We feel so fortunate he’s alive. As does he. He looks forward to recovery and putting this behind him.” David Barden Editor, HuffPost Australia

This thread is about Lindsey, no Stevie. So, please, go away to Stevieland to live happily ever after.

While it is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not.” She adds that Buckingham’s tour behind last year’s Solo Anthology - The Best of Lindsey Buckingham has been “put on pause for the moment as he gathers the strength to heal completely.” Below, read the full note, along with a statement from Buckingham’s representatives. Kristen Buckingham @KBChrush We can't thank you enough for love and support during this time XO❤️ Late last week Lindsey Buckingham experienced severe chest pains and was taken to the hospital where he subsequently underwent emergency open heart surgery. It’s with great relief and thankful hearts that we report the surgery was successful in its purpose. Unfortunately, the life-saving procedure caused vocal cord damage, the permanency of which is unclear. Lindsey is slowly recovering at home with the support of his wife and children. ᐧ

Wishing him a speedy recovery. Wise words from Kristen to encourage people to keep on top of check ups, especially with family history.
