Could you be more specific? Because I'm at a loss at what exactly the "lows" are. (other than my two examples above, that is)

Trying to get the essence of this period onto one 80 minute CD is pretty infuriating. Here's my take, for what it's worth. Maybe it's a little bit on the safe side, I don't know, and I've employed my "no consecutive tracks by the same lead" rule . I always like to listen to this kind of thing with a 10-second crossfade. Pleasingly, I've managed to give Bob (23'21), Chris (22' 10")and Danny (21'34" excluding Purple Dancer) pretty much equal space . I had to include Dragonfly, even though it already was on the Greatest Hits album, and I think there's an iron law of nature that commands that Why has to end it...
Child of Mine Show Me a Smile Hypnotized Woman of 1000 years Emerald Eyes Did You Ever Love Me Mission Bell Dust Caught in the Rain Safe Harbour Spare Me a Little of Your Love Trinity Remember Me Purple Dancer Bermuda Triangle Heroes are Hard to Find This is the Rock Dragonfly Future Games Why Just noticed after all these years, Hypnotized is the American spelling, Safe Harbour, the British. Usual Mac sloppiness, I wonder, or something else? It never was Rumors after all. |

The instrumental (or ALMOST an instrumental, anyway) "Safe Harbour" might have been given its title by one of the British members of the band, hence the British spelling. Or, nobody actually titled it, but when they needed to slap a name to it for the album cover & copyrighting, Mick probably scribbled down the title for the graphics people & the legal folk. It's well-known Fleetwood Mac lore that John McVie gave the Rumours album its title, so therefore, the British spelling.

Can anyone enumerate the non-album songs from this era for me so I can start making the polls?

Let me see what I can do for you, applebucked.
Well, I'm not that aware of the non-album songs besides "Dragonfly", "Purple Dancer", and the outtake from Bare Trees "Trinity". Last edited by MacShadowsBall; 10-23-2013 at 10:02 PM.. |

I once made up individual 'best ofs' for three members including Bob, and mostly from this period, for some friends who didn't know of much before the 1975 album. I don't know, I can see a purpose to pulling the Danny or Bob written songs together from a bunch of sources, but a 'best of' for the Kiln House to Heroes run seems uninspiring... who here wouldn't just want them all? The Mrs. Scarrot recitation is the one and only inessential thing to me.
